I want to THANK YOU ALL for all of the thoughts and prayers that you sent my way. As Tuck said, this was much more of a struggle than I anticipated this time. I definitely realize the older you are the more difficult the recovery.
I'm FINALLY walking without too much discomfort and seemingly the biggest part was getting the swelling down. The lower the swelling goes the lower the discomfort levels. :)
Tuck, thanks so much for ALL the cards and everything else you have done for me and you KNOW how much I love you! :) Best friend and "Sister" EVER!!!!
Thanks again to you all and for all your good thoughts, prayers, etc. You kept me going just like you did 5 years ago when I had my last hip implant! :)
Best wishes to you all and MUCH, MUCH LOVE to everyone!!!
.......... Sherry :)
Thanks so much remar, it's nice to be back, even if it s still sporadic. It really helps when so many people are thinking of you and sending up Prayers in your behalf.
I'm making great strides EVERY DAY! :)

I'm sorry to be so late on my comment. It's wonderful that you're feeling better and you're able to be back on the pain forum. You were very missed.
Thanks! Nice to finally be back!
........... Sherry :)
Finally good news!
Sherry has been improving the last several days. I think she is out of the woods. She sounds better and claims she is feeling "much better."
Thanks for all your thoughts and prayers.

Please give Sherry my love! She's in my continual prayers. She means so very much to me!
Thank Marycarmel! Your thoughts and prayers are much appreciated.
She went home on Monday. Her voice sounds weak and she admits to not being able to eat and being very tired. She lays down much of the day.
I begged her to call her one of her physicians. She should be doing much better. She did so yesterday but as of yet has not had a call back. I told her to call again.
I am concerned. ;0(
I'm so sorry to hear this. I will keep praying for her. Is she still in the hospital or is she in rehab? She gives so much and she has a special place in my heart. Please keep us posted.
It's been near three weeks since our Sherry had surgery. As you can see by her continued absence she is struggling.
The surgery seems to have taken a lot out of her - and knocked her off her feet. I am very concerned. She is week, sleeping often, has lost her appetite and seems to have lost her spirit.
I'm 1,900 miles from her and now more than ever I hate that distance.
Please keep Sherry in your prayers. She has only a daughter and 2 grandchildren for family. So we are her family too. Your thoughts and prayers are appreciated.
Thanks,
~Tuck
Glad to hear she's doing better. I had one surgery where they had trouble controlling my pain. They played around and finally added in dialysis to my regular cocktail.
We shouldn't have to worry about this. One of my anesthesiologist a told me there's no ceiling on how much of a narcotic they can give you, as long as you're not opiate naive. It's one of my biggest worries and one reason I keep my dose as low as possible.
Thanks for sharing your sister's experience. I think in part that may be what Sherry is going through - or has been going through.
I'm happy to report that today is her first "good" day. Seven Days!! Long time to have your first good day.
I do believe - and research backs this up - that patients that require long term opiate for pain management do have a more difficult time with adequate pain control post-op. This is true in acute pain situations also.
It's a tough price to pay for the ability to function on a daily basis - but for some of us there are no good choices.
Tuck, when my sister had open heart surgery back in May they could not get her pain levels down. You know she has RA, spinal stenosis, bulging discs and the list goes on. She's been on pain meds for well over 20 years and we tried to explain that to her Drs at the hospital. They were good to her and they did try but I have to wonder if they tried hard enough or the meds just couldn't work as well because my sister has been on pain meds for so long. Most likely the latter.
I will be keeping her in my prayers.
My thoughts and prayers are with your Sherry. I hope you feel better soon and your Drs are able to get your pain under control. Tuck has been keeping all of up to date. She is a true angel.
I hope we hear from you soon.
Big hugs to you.
An update.
Sherry is still struggling with nasty pain. I think her pain is out of proportion for the surgery.
I'm concerned they are not treating pain adequately. Maybe that's the price we pain for being on opiate therapy. Has anyone ever experienced something similar?
Please continue your prayers for her.
Thanks,
~Tuck
I just chatted with Sherry. She sounds stronger and says her pain is better - still high but decreasing.
She's a very strong lady, never complains - though she has multiple reasons to do so. She always has a smile on her face and as she limps along she hums! Yes hums! So when she admits she has pain - I find it concerning.
Granted when she returns she will down play her pain. That's Sherry! My grandma would have said, "She's a tough ole bird." We love her.
Thanks Mary for stopping by and expressing your concern.

I hope they get her pain under control soon. This is terrible to hear.
Hi Friends,
Sherry was transferred to a lovely rehab unit late yesterday. Incision looks fine but she has been experiencing above normal pain levels.
Please keep her in your prayers,
Thanks,
~Tuck
Last night she said her pain level was over a 10 and had been all day. She never complains so this is concerning. I am hopeful that today will be an easier day for her.
Thanks for all your support. I'm betting she'll check this site very soon.

Love and prayers for a speedy recover!
