I HAVE BEEN ON OXYCONTIN FOR 4 YEARS AT A PRETTY HIGH DOSE... MY DOCTOR  WAS STOPPED FROM GIVING PAIN MED'S.. i GUESS HE WAS SELLING THEM OON THE INTERNET ALSO...

NOW I AM LEFT ON A BAD FIX.. I HAVE NO MORE MED'S LEFT. CAN NOT FIND A DR. TO TAKE CARE OF ME... AND AM IN DESPRITE NEED' FOR OXYCONTIN... CAN  ANYONE HELP ME   !!!!!!

I REALLY FEEL FOR U .. I KNOW WHAT ITS LIKE AND WHAT U GO THROUGH WHEN MED'S ARE TAKEN FROM U LIKE THAT.  ITS NOT FAIR AND ITS NOT RIGHT!  U WOULD THONK THAT THERE WOULD BE SOME KIND OF LAW TO PROTECT US FROM THESE DOCTORS PRESCRIBING THIS MEDICINE TO A PERSON AND THEN ALL AT ONCE TAKE IT FROM U FOR WHATEVER REASON.. THERE IS NO EXCUSE FOR IT.  THEY WOULD NOT LIKE IT IF SOMEONE DID THAT TO THEM!  ITS HARD BECAUSE U DO HAVE WITHDRAWS FROM IT AND THEY CN GET REALLY BAD... MINE LASTED FOR ABOUT 2 WEEKS.  I WAS ON THE DURAGESIC PAIN PATCHES AND DARVOCETS AND KLONIPIN AND XANAX AND THE DOCTOR JUST UP AND RETIRED WITHOUT WARNING AND DIDNT REFER ME TO ANOTHER DOCTOR OR ANYTHING!  MOST DOCTORS DONT CARE WHAT U GO THROUGH!  I FINALLY FOUND A GOOD DOCTOR AND SHE LISTENS TO ME AND SHE CARES ABOUT HER PATIENTS, BUT... SHE IS GIVING UP HER PRIVATE PRACTICE TO WORK IN THE LOCAL HOSPITAL.  SO BACK TO SQUARE ONE AGAIN!  WHEN I WAS GOING THROUGH THE WITHDRAWS I TRIED TO SLEEP THROUGH IT .. HARD BUT I TRIED AND TALK AND TALK AND TALK TO FRIENDS OR WHOEVER WILL LISTEN....... IT HELPS!  HANG IN THERE.. AND IF IT GETS REAL BAD GO TO THE E.R. AND TELL THEM U R IN PAIN AND WHAT HAPPENED TO U.  GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am sorry that this has happened to you. And like Catwoman it makes me angry when physicians act irresponsibly.

I can only advise you to find another physician. I know this will take time but you have little choice.  In the mean time ER may offer you some short term relief. Don't wait, start calling for an appointment. Local clinics will know what has happened to your physician and hopefully one will be willing to take you as a new patient soon. News travels fast in the medical community.

I guess the  only thig left for me to do is go into a detox. Beinga two time transplant patient. It wont be easy.  I can only pray I can live through it.

could you give us some more info please on your situation, how you got to be on a high dose, your medical problems, your doctors opinions etc, you haven't given us much to go on apart fom telling us that you have a 'fix' which to us CP'ers sound a bit suspicious on its own

Hi yes you are very right it is hard and dangerous, you need to take medifene to slowly get you off the oxys because you can have a seizures you just cant stop it you have to call a  doctor  to get the right help so many people i kow are on oxys 300.00 a day habbit.thats all i hear is oxys.im going to call my friend tomorrow and ask how to get the medifene i think thats THE name.be careful you been on them along time.LISTEN TO ME MY BEST FRIEND AND MY ONLY BEST FRIENDI  IS MY BROTHER,JUST PASSED AWAY LAST YEAR 32 YRS OLD HE HAD GOTTEN HURT ON A JOB HE HAD TO GET BACK SURGERY TWICE WELL GUESS WHAT THAT WAS IT HEAR COMES THE OXYS,MY BROTHER WAS TAKING THEM NOT THAT LONG WELL WENT TO SLEEP AND NEVER WOKE UP HE OVERDOSED ACCIDENTLY. I MISS HIM SO MUCH I TRIED EVERY THING TO HELP HIM BUT HE DIDNT WANT TO ADMIT HE HAD AN ADDICTION I DID EVERYTHING I COULD SO THE THING IS THAT YOU HAVE TO ADMIT YOU NEED HELP NOBODY CAN FORCE YOU. It is not a good idea to offer someone you don't  know medication that might be dangerous to him or even offering to finding it for him we do NOT find drugs for other members in this forum. Alvalenti needs to see a Physician or go to an ER so that they can evaluate him and prescribe the medication they feel he needs.

More info on Situation.  I am a two time liver transplant patient. I have had 6 hernia operations - 2 where stangulated  , lost 1  1/2 feet of intestines'.  I  I have also had a abdominal wass transplant, which was unsuccssesfull and left me with a big basketball hernia in my abdomin (abdomen). thhis had caused a lot of back problem's . I have spina stenosis, two dislocated disc'd  , nerve damage. with arthritis in the spine. I can barly walk to my laft leg. The pain in ooutstanding. I was put on oxycontin 4 years ago. I had never even heard of this  drug before that., Over time thhey increased my dose to  3 -60 mg @ day. also deludid  4 mg 4 @ day.
I had to sign a document that I could not use any drug store but one,Recently  I was in the hospital for 7 days , when I left they gave me a Rx for oxycontin 80 mg. I cashed that  . When the dr. Found out he dissmissed me from his practice, saying I abused the med's. Now I am blackballed from all the pain Doctor's .. OK I did do wrong by cashing the rx they gave mein the hospital. I was in for numerious thing's  . The chronic gout being one of them, So I figured I can holdon to some exta just in case they where needed or for emergency use. I did not ask to be put on this ****. Yet they gave thhem to me freely. I think it is very unscrupulious for the dr's to do this and for me to suffer at 57 year old. .. I wonder if it was there father if they would let this happen? Or any of there family member's. I know this is a very known obussed drug., buth there are us that are in need of pain med's. I dont care what they give me as long as it help's my pain.

unfortunately oxycontin loses it's pain killing ability after several years (it did for me). so i switched to something else. your PM doc seems to have been quite harsh, i can certainly understand that most patients in hospital would routinely get thier meds on thier way out. it's only a pity you didn't call your PM doc 1st, it could have saved so much trouble. i hope we all learn from that. i guess the only thing you can do is find a new doc and explain everything(EVERYTHING). many doctors HATE oxycontin because of the trouble it causes them(and thier patients). I won't ention any other meds that you might be better off on coz that's sometimes frowned upon this site. but perhaps oxy has done it's all for you and it may be time to move on.

Hi Alvalenti,

I know none of these words are solutions for your pain. I am sorry to tell you that I think you need to begin your search for a new PMP. I know that will take time. Some ppl do well on Oxy's for years without any issues, it sounds as though you are one of those ppl. There are other medications that may work for you. But obviously that won't happen until you are seen by a physician.

Are you able to discuss this situation with your PCP? Do you have a good relationship with him/her. They may be willing o give you something that will help you through this period. Unfortunately PMP do not mess around with their rules. I always warn our members to read their PM contracts and follow them to thee letter. And I know that doesn't help you now.

Obviously you were in the hospital for a reason. Someone thought you needed pain medications. You may want to return to that physician and explain to them what occurred. I beleive you will find an understanding and compassionate physician. They are out there. There are physicians that will treat you like you were their Dad. Don't give up your search.

There is always ER. If you are in acute pain you may want to consider a trip to ER. Sometimes you can find help through their department, other times they will prescribe you short term pain medications.

I thank you all for your help and prayer's . I am just not sure after 4 year's on this med if I can do this... It scare's me. I am now taking 1/2  of a 60  fot the nevt 7 day's .. Then I will be completly out...
