PAIN IN BUTT CHEEKS

I recently fell off a chair and along with straining a bicep and neck, cutting my finger, and scraping and bruising my leg I am suffering from pain in my butt cheeks. When I fell, I landed on my behind and was winded. There does not seem to be any pain when I touch my tailbone but getting up from a chair, climbing stairs and just sitting too long can be very uncomfortable. There are times when I am fine (after taking tylenol with codeine) but then when I bend down etc I get a sudden pain. I have stopped going to the gym for now. Is there and excercise I can do to help?

Hi t, I am in full agreement with you. A good D.O. is worth his money in gold. Mine saved my life when my appendix was very infected but was incapsulated so my CT scans were not showing the problem till it was almost to late. my appendix would swell and recede with infection and was causing a partial bowel obstruction. My lab work was still normal(but often times labs can be normal for a long time with an infected appendix, so they waited even though I had classic symptoms of appendicitis. But no one but my DO seemed to care that I had been on baby food and ensure for weeks because of the partial bowel obstruction., The DO had me come into his office every sat. AM at 6:00 even when he did not have sat. hrs. and he did intestinal manipulations for 40min. and I usually then within 3-4hrs. after his manipulations would have a bowel movement. That was the only BM I would have all week. He did this for eight weeks till finally my CT scan showed signs of what we expected all along was causing the problem. I believe he saved my life because with out him doing that I am sure I would have died. It was almost to late as it was. Thank God for a DO that is a specialist in all sorts of physical manipulations. Not all train for that and many have very limited knowledge in it anyway,so if you find a good one hang on to him or her............cornishrex

It sounds to me like you have a broken tailbone or something like that.
I broke my tailbone when I feel back on my back side and I didnt have any immediate pain, but later my left butt cheek had pain shooting down it and I didnt have it checked out for two weeks cause I thought it would go away. They did an x-ray and found out what it was, so go get checked out!

Hello Goldenlover,

Welcome to MedHelp's Pain Management Forum.

I am not comfortable suggesting any exercise especially when we are not certain what you may have injured. Buttock pain can have many sources.

It may come from a spinal structure issue or you may have injured your SI Joint. Before you begin any exercise program in my opinion you need a Diagnosis. I would not consult a Chiropractor until I consulted a Medical Doctor. Obviously the choice is yours.

A good choice may be a D.O. (Doctor of Osteopathy). They are physicians that have a bit different slant on medicine. I would search for one that performed OMT (Osteopathic Manipulation Therapy). I think they offer the best of both worlds.

Good luck and please let us know how you are doing.

Peace,
~Tuck

I would find a good ciropractor .I would not let that go to long. even when the inflammation goes down you probably have compressed your spine a bit. Your spine sends the signals to all the organs in your body and a compression can cause those signals to not be as effective at their job. When this happens we slowly become sick people. A Regular Dr. will tell you this is hog wash because the pharmasuitical  companies have no reason to do a study on it since they can't push a drug for it. But a good ciropractor can tell you alot about it. Bite the bullet and pay for a visit you won't be sorry but if you go to a regular Dr. he will probably just give you an anti inflammatory drug that will possibly take away the pain but not correct any spinal problems. I know I had a whip lash that was not treated I was let go from the hospital even though I had a compressed vertebra in mt neck. 25ys later some of my health problems are linked to the very organs that the signals from that area of the spine go to. Ins pays for this. It is a true medical field. I am sure He will take an X-Ray of your spine first. If you have not seen one before and he doesn't want to do an x-ray first he is probably a quack and you would need to find another one.......God Bless. let me know how it goes.....Dawn cornishrex
