Pain Back of Legs

Please help me.  I have had this pain for years.  Docs thought it was RLS now they think it is tendinitis.  The pain feels like growing pains.  The pain is in the calves.  I use to get my husband to put as much pressure as he could on my legs, it would hurt like hell while he was doing but it would stop and feel wonderful for awhile afterwards.  Sometime the pain wouldn't come back.  They hurt daytime or nighttime.  Nighttime is worst cause I am trying to sleep.  I will take a klopan, no help, whirlpool, massage, heating pad, ben gay, patches.  Finaly, sleeping on the hard floor, which is not good for my rheumatoid arthristis or Oa.  I am a 51 year old woman with RA, OA high Cholesterol, low thyroid and IBS.  The pain in my legs hurt several years before i was dignosed with RA/OA.
Please help tell me what to do or who to go to for help.  What they need to do to help my legs.  During working hours when I hurt I will get up and strech and walk up the ramp slowey to try to get the pain out.  I don't like taking a lot of the klonpan because it leaves me in a brain fog.

Thank you,
nanamom05

Thank you for your advice.  I had the pain before I was on any medication.  My dad had poor circulation in his legs.  That is what I thought it was, also.  But my doc said nope.  I do wear the support hose sometimes, they do help some.  The arch in my feet are good.  i do have hip pain from Oa.  I think I will try to get my doc to referr me to a specialist.

Thank you wishforchange. Wishing you pain free.

Have you seen a vascular specialist?  Basic question but do you have varicose veins?  There may be a problem with the blood supply to your lower legs, particularly as you may have hardening of the arteries from high cholesterol.  A relative of mine has a very similar problem.  Other suggestions are it may be referred pain from poor posture caused e.g. by flat feet, hip deformity, or spinal deformity such as a curvature of the spine.  Thyroid problems can cause muscle weakness too.  Maybe ask your doctor for a referal to a vascular specialist, and also to an osteopath.  A podiatrist may be able to also advise on any walking problems or special footware to support your legs.  Also have you tried wearing support stockings?  I used to work shifts and have to stand for hours, and these stockings really help leg pain as they keep the circulation going.  You need to lay down for a while before putting them on to prevent blood pooling, and then keep them on for as long as you like.  Any hospital operating department or ward will be able to advise you on these.  Sorry I don't understand the drugs you are  taking but have you researched into their side effects?  Any or none of these suggestions may help but I hope you get some relief.  Leg pain is horrible, it's such a large part of you that hurts, I know from experience.  I wish you, and myself, pain free very soon.
