Pain after a blood clot in the spine

My Grandmother had a blood clot in the spine over 3 years ago now and despite a diagnosis that found it was highly unlikely that she would regain use of her body, luckily she did. Immediately after the incident she was paralysed from the neck down.Today she can now walk again but with the use of a frame, a few issues persist nonetheless. She does not have full control of her bladder or use of her left hand (which is now flat I suspect due to muscle wasting). The main promblem however is terrible pain in her hands, legs and knees. She has been told this is nerve pain and nothing can be done. She also has a sensation whereby her hands and knees feel cold to her but are very warm to the touch of others. Can you suggest a course of treatment or an operation that can be carried out as her local doctor continues to prescibe drugs but they have little to no effect. Any thoughts or suggestions will be greatly appreciated

yeah, man.. i don't know.. i shattered 2 neck vertebae and had a blood clot at the vertebrae above the fracture and i've had a horrible nerve pain down both arms ever since.. i allso get very cold hands and feet, but thats also due to lossed circulation.. i've tryed two dozen different meds, and nothing has helped.. besides marijuana.. but i can't get a prescription where i live, so i'm kind SOL. the doctors told me basically the same thing.. there is nothing they can do.. i've tryed alot of different stuff, but so far i've had no luck.. all i can suggest is to go on the web and do as much research as you can. i've had alot of luck with alot of my other problems, but not as far as nerve pain goes..
good luck and i wish you the best.
