Pain/back,hips,thighs,knees/muscular

I've had back pain a long time with lots of ortho treatment, therapy making pain worse & causing weakness, steroids are relief but can't take them for long, epi injections not helpful.  I have 2 bulging discs, but pain changes & moves around & is not all bone/nerve pain, I've had it long enough to know the pain caused by back problem.  The pain now is more muscle pain, hips, down & across front of thighs, into knees & sometimes down leg into ankle, legs are becoming very weak & having trouble with 4 stairs to laundry or yard, walking dog etc. I'm 67 yrs. normally active but
not athletic, I'm diabetic (1 year) & have lost 45 lbs. in a year so weigh about 150, sometimes less, ladies will understand sizes, from 18+ down to 12, so not really too heavy at 5'4". I take drugs for blood pressure, thyroid & acid
reflux, Metformin for diabetes & simvastatin, also Celebrex & Tylenol PM.  Can only sleep on my back, can't
lay on either hip(sides), NOW this week my whole spine makes odd sounds when I move/walk, I can hear it & feel a kind of instability.  I know, SEE A DR. WOMAN, I don't even know what kind, The 4 orthos who treated me fore 2 yrs. all had an attitude that I was just difficult, they were all in one big center & passed me from one to another the last being a surgeon who told me I was'nt a candidate for surgery, I never thought I was, I left & never went back.  I've had some good times, even for months, can't explain those either, just appreciate them.  I've read the info on the "statins"
which I'm finding very interesting as I've taken them for a loooong time. I'm interested in info & feedback & will end now before this becomes a book.  Jalu

Hello jalu, Hope your doing as well as possible. I was wondering if you ever found a cause? Everything you described fits me my problems the same. I have Hip Flexor problems that are so bad I can only walk 50 ft and its like they cramp? I always end up on my back, no matter where Iam.
Sometimes the pain moves from my neck, to my lower back. Usually never at the same time. My sciatic hurts..then my legs..then moves to the knees, the muscles in front..shin. Left foot goes numb...ect ect.. Dr.s treat me like a pill seeker..I have to tell them right away Iam not there for that..painkillers do no good. I get really high, and still in pain. So I take nothing. I had one back surgery and they keep trying to act like that is probably the problem. They WONT just do a MRI, I have no insurance, so I think they wont do it because then they would HAVE to do something. Iam almost bed ridden.. I had to get soooo bad before they operated last time that I stopped eating and drinking because I couldnt couldnt crawl across the floor and get to the toilet. Gotta love our health care..OR GREEDY DOCTORS that dont care about anything except the almighty $$$.

A lot of your pain sounds like what I had. My left hip was very painful. Sometimes down my left leg and ankle too. My ankle felt swollen.
I WAS taking a Statin called Simvastatin. The side effect of Statin's in some people is muscle pain.
I stopped taking Simvastatin about two weeks ago on my own. It was like a miracle. My pain is gone! I don't take anything for pain now. I don't suggest you do what I did, but you might want to talk to your doctor.
Good luck!

I did look up some info on the statins and it is a commonly known side effect as you describe, the muscle pain back pain and leg pain. I even seen some had chest pains. I don't know what to suggest to you other than talking to your Dr about possibly going off of the medication and seeing where your at then. I know how frustrating it is to get a Dr to listen sometimes but please don't give up, there are some very good Dr;s you just have to keep going till you find one. I know that is awful but the only other option is living with the pain and you should not do that. I really hope you will continue to look for a Dr who will take you seriously and listen to you and find out what the diagnosis is because you will feel so much better just knowing what is wrong so you can have it treated. In the mean time we are here for you ant time you need us and will help anyway we can:)

Hi Jalu

      Welcome to the community!!
I'm not too familiar with what you have been experiencing, but many members here are and will I'm sure have some great feedback for you.
I can really understand what its like to feel like your just veing passed from DR to DR with no real answers.
I hope you can find all the info you need to help get you on the right path to finding what the problem could be and get the treatment to help fix it or treat it. Sometimes it takes DR upon DR until you finally find someone who recognizes what your going through.
So I hope this new DR your seeing will be able to help.
