My daughter now 17.5 has been in severe pain for 4 years (as of 8/18). One day we were playing tennis, next day could not get out of bed and since has not been able to walk at all. They cannot see what's wrong on MRI, long story there, but now in MA the docs are going to give her lidocaine infusions and started her on nortriptyline 10 mg with increasing doses. Even though I have been tirelessly searching for answers to get my child back to "her life", we are maybe just starting to get there? When she was in the hospital in the beginning I think they thought she was faking and were really mean about it. I refuse to let anyone be that way to her. I keep searching have taken to counseling etc, they said they thought she was fine. She had a year of illness before this so I was always trying to connect the dots. It all started with her appendix removal at 13, did not do well in recovery and ended up with mono, hepatitis, leukopenia, agranulocytosis, myositis, and liver enzyme levels of 6000! She has had up and down alk phosphate levels, ast levels, and is chronically exhausted. So, I always wondered if it was really connected to the "tennis event". No one knows,In SC they all just dismissed her even though she was very ill with a 1.8 white blood cell count and just said go home, you'll be fine. She has type 1 diabetes since age 5, and is managing that well, (in the golden range) since getting a pump. Never thought I would say that is the least of her problems. All of a sudden one day her vision went, right after a spinal tap, and now we find out she has scotomas in both eyes. She also had her gallbladder out on her 16th b-day. One of her doctors told her 2 months before she had it out that her stomach pain was because she wasn't eating enough yogurt! We have had some bad advice! Still, I keep searching for what is relavant and what dots to connect where. It's a really long story. But do you think lidocaine infusions will help her along with meds? Her pain is located in a t shirt pattern (not on her chest area). We have literally been everywhere, just thought I would ask your advice. Thanks," Heartbroken Mom "
