Pain in the right side of abdomen

I was sent to the ER at the end of OCt because they thought my appendix was in trouble. when scans were done the next day they couldn't even find my appendix. The pain mostly settled within a week. But I am still getting discomfort in my right side, especially at night. SHould I get checked again?

If you're getting pain, then you should get it rechecked.  Everyone's appendix isn't always where it's supposed to be.  My mom had an uncle who died from a burst appendix because it was hidden in his back.  Just last month, my cousin's 10-year old had the same thing.  He went for weeks with a burst appendix and ended up in the ICU for a few days, then the hospital and finally home.  His appendix was hidden as well.  It's not a very common thing to happen but pain is a sign something's not right.  Did they do any blood work at the ER?  If you had an infected appendix I would think you'd have a high WBC.  Do you have any other symptoms?  Any fever?  It's possible it could be a number of things.  Did you follow-up with your primary care doctor after you went to the ER?

Doc thinks she might now what it is. She got me a CT scan where you have to drink that gross white stuff though I didn't have the Iodine injection due to my asthma playing up. It came back clear as did all the other blood tests. She thinks early endometriosis(sp?). FUn. That caused my mum to have a full hysterectamy.

The ER found I had a slightly elevated white cell count, no fever. Didn't vomit till they gave me morphine and forgot to give me the anti-nauseu first which sucked as I ended up throwing up several times whenever I tried to even sip water. They said to watch for the pain getting worse or diahror or constipation and I've had none of those. It was my GP that told me it was probably my apendix and that it'd clear up in about a week since it didn't seem to be a serious flare up. It's now been nearly a month. Doc said the only way to be 100% sure would be the whole stick one of those miny camera things in to look around but I'd have to see a private surgeon and I can't afford it.
