I had that for over a year. I started getting deep massages once a week. after about a year I was able to now go once a month. Happen to my mom also and now she goes to the massage place where I go and is now pain free long as she goes once a month. Some Doc. agree with that and others want to get u to let them do surgery's. I actually had a Dr who referred me to a massage place and yes I am living proof it works. when I had what u have it got so bad I could stand for more than 2 minutes or even walk around for more than that. As long as I go once a month I stay pain free.

i can only say that i have the same pain and doctor calls it sciatica.  that is me though and you should go to your doctor and get checked out because it could be many things, pulled muscle, disc, sciatica, etc.  so many possibilities that it is impossible to tell you what it is.  if you are against taking pain meds you can discuss other ways to relieve the pain
