Hello, does anyone know if there is an instant relief MS Contin or is it ER ONLY? The reason I ask is my Dr is replacing the roxicodone (since it is hard to get) with MS Contin. However, I am already taking Morphine Silfate 100mg ER. I need an instant release med...

Thank you for your help!

hi mate, maybe your dr means the immediate release version of morphine(which is like the ER version only its more of a 6 hourly duration instead of 12/24).good luck with it, lots of ppl are having the same problem at the moment.

There are instant relief types of Morphine, but it is not called MS Contin. Is it only the 30mg roxycodone that everyone is having such a hard time getting. I get the 10mg oxycodone and have had no problem. You could just double or triple the dose if you need to. At least here there is no short supply of that one. Maybe you could call around and check and if it is available let your doctor know. Just a suggestion.
I have had a pharmacy give me oxycontin twice instead of oxycodone. I have to tell them everytime that it is the instant relief not extended.
Good luck, I hope you find the med you are looking for.

Hi Audrea,
Here in Florida it is impossible to get any of the oxycodone 5mg, 15mg, or 30mg.
There are other forms of oxycodone but they of course contain tylenol.
I know that ethex the other company that was making the oxycodone IR is under FDA investigation and the FDA has stopped all manufacturing. the other company Malinkroft is so backed up they can't keep up. I certainly hope they can increase manufacturing so we can get the medications we need. Alot of people are suffering because of this issue and it really is unheard of in this day and time in my opinion that a company can not keep up with public demand for their product.

can you order it from online pharmacies? not what i'd feel comfortable doing but it may be worth trying(talk to your doc 1st). in australia we had a shortage of it 2 yrs ago but it's fine now, so maybe there are still decent supplies outside the usa, hence the online solution.
doog luck folks
