Hi,
Sorry I was tardy but I did answer this question for you in the PMPremenstrual syndrome Relieving pms you sent to me. In case you didn't get it I will repeat it here.
Heart rates can elevate in such instances that you are ill, anxious, active or in pain. There are other reasons for elevated heart rates in healthy ppl but these are the most common.
I think your "worry" may be elevating your heart rate. Medications for "colds and flu" can sometimes increase your rate also. And add that to your illness and it is probably a combination those issues.
It never hurts to check with your PCP as you stated in your PM to me.
Let us know how you are doing. Try not to worry. You have contacted your PCP so unless you have other symptoms you should just try to rest until he returns your call.

The normal resting heart rate is between 60-90 BPM. (some literature will say up to 100 BPM but that is a high normal) You may monitor your heart rate by gently placing your index and middle finger on your inner wrist just below your thumb. Do not use your thumb to check it. Once you locate your pulse count for a full minute to obtain an accurate rate. If you cannot find it on your wrist you can try a carotid pulse which can be felt on with side of your neck. Some ppl think that is an easier site.

Hope this helps,
