Residual pain after bad dermabrasion

by Lake Arrowhead, Sep 12, 2007 04:26PM
I had UNAUTHORIZED (The Dr. lost his license) dermabrasion during a face-life procedure 3-10-03.
I was left with hamburger for skin & the Dr. said, at the 2-day post-op visit, 'I did a little more than I told you I was going to do".  The procedure was done on my entire forehead, which had no frown lines, from temple to temple, and from my nose to my chin and about an inch out on both sides of the mouth.

After about a week major scarring started around my mouth, resulting in the inabilitly to open my mouth very far.  He then  injected mass does of steroids into the area to try to avoid more scarring, but this just resulted in pitting of areas around the nose where the steroid pooled due to the scarring which had already taken place.

Anyway, God watched out for me wth a wonderful Dr. who took care of me out of his home, did many laser treatments on the flame-red skin, redid the face lift as it was sagging around the scarred mouth area.  I was initially in hyperbarics for 6 weeks, 90 minutes a day, as I was about to lose my skin.

My question is, now at 4.5 years out, I am having fantom (?) nerve pain on my upper lip and my forehead, which results in the bringing down of my left eye.  I am on Neurontin which helps somewhat but seems to be helping less as time goes by.

He took the skin down to the muscle and dermis.  Any suggestions on how long this will last or what to do to help the current pain.

I appreciate anything you can add.  Also, I have been on Lexapro, which I need for the anxiety brought on by this procedure, and have gained weight.  I tried to  open the link for weight loss due to lexapro but it wouldm't display.

THANK YOU-
