Rib Cage Pain

by kateream, Jul 01, 2009 02:14PM
Once in a while I will get severe pain in my ribs. I have been to the hospital to get x-rays and scans but they couldn't find anything wrong with me. I think after all those test it may be my bones. I haven't been to a chiropractor yet, but I will soon. In the mean time, the pain feels like period pain x10! It's soo bad to the point where I can't go to work or move. I have to stay in bed and not move at all. I also think I may have, but I could be wrong "Costochondritis", I take Motrin to relieve the pain, and it helps but only temporarily. Maybe you can suggest something to relieve this pain, since it's driving me crazy and I can't go on with my day with this pain.

Thank you :)

I would try alternating the ibupropen and Tylenol.
I do not know of anything over the counter you could try besides that. i would go to your regular doctor so he/she can order the proper test to find out what is going on so it can be treated effectively.

You may also want to try going to a therapeutic massage therapist who does myofascial release.  I get rib pain when my fascial tissue arround my ribs grabs onto it and they are able to release it.  They can then give you some good stretching exercises that can help to keep the pain from returning.
