Rib area pain, exercise related?

After some rapid push-ups and jogging, I may have messed up my Latissimus dorsi and/or my Serratus anterior in my right rib area. A doctor told me: "Your pain is in the region of the right Latissimus dorsi muscle, but is not neccessarily emanating from that particular muscle, since it is most likely deeper than that - in the intercostal muscles (muscles that are in between the ribs) "

This pain has existed since Oct. 2008. Since this time, I haven't done anymore working out. I don't even open doors with my right hand anymore as it causes tension in the hurt area. How do I go about repairing this problem? What is the best test to show if I did indeed mess up some muscles, tendons, or nerves in this area?

Hello,

I don't have any pian to the touch. It's something more noticeable when I breathe in or out  during long deep breaths (pulmonologist has seen me thrice and cleared me). I feel as if I'm almost done with all of my main hospital visits this month, so I will post a complete summary at that time, and see if anyone has any answers or suggestions for me.  Thanks.

I don't know how Sugoya's last post was missed but some how I am sorry to say that it slipped through the cracks.

Are you still active Sugoya? Have you sen a physician? Any PCP should be able to diagnosis intercostal chondritis. And yes just touching the area can be painful. But there are other conditions that could account for your pain.

If you are still monitoring and interested I would be glad to try and respond to more of your questions. I do apologize that your last post went unnoticed.

Peace,
Tuck

Hello,

Thank You very much for your reply. I guess my first question is: What kind of doctor diagnosed with intercostal chondritis? What examinations or procedures were used to come to this conclusion? What meds if any are you on for the pain? Also, I thought chondritis was supposed to hurt to the touch. Does your rib, side-chest area hurt to the touch?

My medical history is as follows:
-------------------------------------------------

Oct. 2008: Post-exercise pain in right side rib area. It hurts more when I breathe deeply or try to hold breath

Nov. 2008: RUQ pain persists, Abdominal sonogram reveals mildly enlarged liver (later tests may refute this)

Dec. 2008: GERD surfaces and causes acidic burps and GB-area pain/small spasms

Jan. 2009- July 2009
--------------------
-Pain, difficulty holding a breath, and GERD still exist
-Fatigue is constant....
-Off-balance feeling, and strained blurry vision is constant
-Frequent urination throughout the day for no reason
-Anxiety has develpoed due to no diagnosis
