Yes, please keep us updated:)
Hello,
I don't have any pian to the touch. It's something more noticeable when I breathe in or out during long deep breaths (pulmonologist has seen me thrice and cleared me). I feel as if I'm almost done with all of my main hospital visits this month, so I will post a complete summary at that time, and see if anyone has any answers or suggestions for me. Thanks.
I don't know how Sugoya's last post was missed but some how I am sorry to say that it slipped through the cracks.
Are you still active Sugoya? Have you sen a physician? Any PCP should be able to diagnosis intercostal chondritis. And yes just touching the area can be painful. But there are other conditions that could account for your pain.
If you are still monitoring and interested I would be glad to try and respond to more of your questions. I do apologize that your last post went unnoticed.
Peace,
Tuck
Hello,
Thank You very much for your reply. I guess my first question is: What kind of doctor diagnosed with intercostal chondritis? What examinations or procedures were used to come to this conclusion? What meds if any are you on for the pain? Also, I thought chondritis was supposed to hurt to the touch. Does your rib, side-chest area hurt to the touch?
My medical history is as follows:
-------------------------------------------------
Oct. 2008: Post-exercise pain in right side rib area. It hurts more when I breathe deeply or try to hold breath
Nov. 2008: RUQ pain persists, Abdominal sonogram reveals mildly enlarged liver (later tests may refute this)
Dec. 2008: GERD surfaces and causes acidic burps and GB-area pain/small spasms
Jan. 2009- July 2009
--------------------
-Pain, difficulty holding a breath, and GERD still exist
-Fatigue is constant....
-Off-balance feeling, and strained blurry vision is constant
-Frequent urination throughout the day for no reason
-Anxiety has develpoed due to no diagnosis
i was diagnosed with intercostal-chrondritis 10 yrs ao...for me it is a cramping sensation...disabling for 20 minutes or so...can move into my throat and jaw area...so naturally the first time i had it checked cos i thought it was a heart attack..or chest pain...nope...so later diagnosed as fibromyalgia with this being part of it...i have alot of thoracic area back pain...2 discs that have deteriorated..and since the ribs go around to the spine...sounded plausible.....then/just last week..i was dx with gerds....no symptoms..no heartburn..nuttin....my voice was hoarse//since i also suffer sinus and allergy probs..i wasnt concerned at frist...but after months and only getting worse...i went it...seems the reflux has eroded my vocal cords..the vocal cords being the last protective mechanism bfore the contents go into the trachea seemed as tho id a felt it????oh well...chest pain/intercostal pain also goes along with this dx (diagnosis) I am a nurse so i abbreviate alot LOLso not i am not sure why i have the chest spasms....sometimes i will go months without one...6 mths..then have 3 episodes in a week...i lay down and put ice on it..helps it the most...when it is gone i get up and keep going...dunno but curious as to ur history???any esophageal reflux (gerds) or back problems for u?
