Hi - I agree with Tuck.  I'll add that there are many things, as she said that can cause pain there.  The gallbladder, pancreas, and the ducts - one, the bile duct, can become partially (or even completely) blocked, which can lead to problems with constipation.  I had a shunt put into the duct, which helped.  I also discovered that I had a myriad of problems I hadn't known about.  There's a procedure MRCP, and also ERCP  where the GI doc scopes down into the area.  It is a complicated, even risky procedure, so not a place you start in the diagnostic process.  A simple ultrasound would give a lot of info if necessary.  I would see if your doctor thinks you should see a Gastroenterologist. Hope your pain resolves itself.

Blessings, Jan

Hi Mirydip,

Welcome to our Pain Management Forum. I am glad you found us but sorry to hear about you pain.

There are no experts on our forum...just us...chronic pain sufferers...sadly with lots of experience with pain. Some of us have medical backgrounds but again no experts.

That said, you have two very different symptoms. I doubt they are connected.

I am guessing you may have a gall bladder issue with the URQ pain. There are multiple other conditions that could be responsible for your discomfort. Your best bet is to consult your PCP. He/she can conduct some simple imaging to determine what is causing your pain.

Ganglion cysts are benign. They can be painful or pain-less. They can develop near a joint or a tendon and are filled with a thick fluid like material. They can be caused by tendinitis, arthritis, an injury or for no apparent reason.

I would consult an orthopaedic hand surgeon for the cysts.

I hope this is helpful. Please let us know how you are doing.

Take Care,
~Tuck
