Sharp stabbing pain all over my body,

I've recently been experiancing pain all over my body, not all at once, just in one or two different areas but it's like a strong stabbing pain which normally lasts for about a minute then goes to another place. Sometimes It will go away for most of the day and come back very bad. The thing that concerns me the most is that I constently get it on my head and neck and heart. Also my temples and neck feel like they are swelling and are stiff so I can't move my neck much. It goes away when I am doing something fun, but as soon as I think about it, it comes back. I have no idea what this could be I have read up veriouse different things and it could be a number of things. I am hoping that people on here will be able to help...
ALSO I HAVE HAD SHORTNES OF BREATH WHICH AT ONE POINT LET TO NOT BEING ABLE TO BREATHE IN NOR OUT.
       Thank You.

HI Hypochondriac,

I want to welcome you to the Pain Management Forum and let you know that we are glad that you have ofund our Forum. I need to let you know that we are NOT Doctors but are CP (Chronic Pain) Patients ourselves that help each other with our own experiences.

I'm so sorry that you have been having this pain. I really think that you need to go to your Doctor and tell him what is going on. If you've already been there what did he say?

You say that you had a pain that caused you not to be able of breathe? Did you go to the ER or how did you handle it?

It sounds like you do a lot of reading about medical issues. You need to get this checked out so that you don't make yourself panicky by reading what it might be when all along it may be nothing serious at all. But at the same time you might read something that would say that it was nothing to be concerned about when in reality you should have been concerned about it.

I hope that you understood what I was trying to say!! :) I really think that it would benefit you to see your Doctor and get a physical. When you go you need to take with you a record of the time of day when these pains occur, what you were doing at the time, etc. in other words you need to keep[ a pain journal. It really helps a lot of us so that when we go to the Doctor he/she has an exact record of what was happening at the time. It's come in extremely helpful o both us and our Doctors.

I wish you the very best and I hope that you will keep us updated on what you find out. We are really gald that you found us and look forward to your next post...Sherry

When I first realised I was having these pains, I was sitting on the sofa with my laptop. I'm only 15 So I can't do much without my parents and they wont take me to the doctor. I have convinced my best friends mother to take me at some point juring this week or the next, I will stop at nothing to make this awful pain go away... ://

I have had 2 severe panic attacks during the cause of this week. 1> Monday 3rd lesson in school, I couldn't breathe properly and then I coughed and I just couldn't breathe in nor out. 2> Wednesday, Lunchtime, someone smacked my head an I fell to the floor like a fold up chair and repeat of Monday.

I'm quite unfit, however I'm not fat-  In fact I am quite skinny. I eat lots of fruit no vegitables but not enough food to make me put on weight. I constantly worry and Do suffer from anxiety yet not yet properly diagnosed with that from the doctor. Family life is rubbish and so is relationships.

I'm not quite sure what else to write at this present moment, anything else you wish to know just ask. If theres anything I have missed out please do not hesitate to tell me. I will keep you in touch with what goes on and what I do.

Oh dear sweetie, you are in a bad way.  You are just too young to have to suffer through this.  Have your parents said why they won't take you?  If the issue is monetary, there are a lot of assistance programs for teens and children. And your friend's mom sounds very kind but the doctor will still need your parents consent to treat you.

Don't take this wrong but I really think you need therapy for your anxiety.  I'm not saying you are nuts but a lot of young people get therapy  And are prescribed anxiety medications and antidepressants.  Some of your physical symptoms could be anxiety related.  But that would need a doctor's evaluation. Do you nave any universities near you?  Many have therapy services for anxiety and other mental health issues for teens. They charge very little if anything at all for the service.

I have 3 children aged 14, 17 and 20.  I've seen what anxiety can do to their little bodies.  If you need someone to talk to, just send me a personal message.  I'll give you what advice I can and all the support you need.

Take care sweetie!

I have been told that It could be from anxiety/ stress, but it happens even when I'm happy sometimes. Just a second ago whilst reading your comment, The veins were herting by my temple on the right side and I felt it and the pulse rate was really high but i felt both at the same time and one side was dramaticly slower! Do you think this is anything to worry About? I keep getting the feeling I am going to die from it, it gets that bad sometimes!  & Now in my arm >_< can this burst blook vessles in your head or were ever the pain is?  Also now on my neck undder my jaw...

& About the parent thing, I wish they could see it from how I see it. Even if it is mostly all in my head, it wouldn't effect me so much if my parents tryed helping me. I mean, if they don't want to deal with what goes on in a childs mind they shouldn't have had them right?

Oh sweetie, do you have an adult other than your parents you can talk to?  Is there a school nurse or counselor?  Another relative, such as an aunt or uncle or perhaps cousin?  Maybe a friend of your parents.

I believe there may be some physical problem.  It's probably being exacerbated by the stress you're feeling because of it. I do not in any way believe that your parents do not care about you or what you are feeling.  They may not understand but they do love you more than life.  And they truly want the best for you.

I advise you to talk to a trusted adult as per above.  Ask the trusted adult to speak to your parents for you.  If this is not possible, you may try to make a deal with your parents.  Ask them to take you to your family doctor.  Tell them you wish to speak to the doctor by yourself.  If the doctor finds nothing wrong with you, you will not bring it up again.  However, if the doctor does believe there in indeed a problem, then your parents agree to follow up on it.

If the doctor doesn't find a problem and it is still bothering you, can you wait until school starts again and go to the school nurse?  She may be your best ally in this .  Your school counselor is a good one as well.

I hope this helps you.  And again I urge you to post on the forum  or pm me or any of the other forum members with whom you feel comfortable.

Good luck and take care sweetie!

My Dear,

You really need to check with an adult. Like Sara said maybe the School Nurse as she could intervene with your parents.

Possibly the School Psychologist as she could help you a GREAT deal with your anxiety. I think that a lot of this IS stemming from this. I think that your pain IS real but I think that YOU are correct when you say that is is exacerbated by the Stress and Anxiety that you are feeling ALL the time.

What do your Parents say when you've told them about this? How long have you had these feelings that you are experiencing? Just a few weeks or months or years?

I wish that we could help you more. You seem like such a Sweet girl and I'm hoping that you can find out what is causing all of this and get it taken care of so that you can relax and just have FUN in your Teenage years.

Please keep us updated as we are VERY concerned about you.

Sweetheart, we are thinking of you and want ONLY the VERY best for you...Sherry

Hi Sweetie:  Sherry as always is giving you very good advice.

One more point I'd like to make is that pain, whether its origins are psychological or physiological,  is still pain.  The brain receives it and processes it the same.  So it does need to be treated.  A doctor must take everything into account and ascertain the origins and initiate proper treatment.

So even if it is in your mind, your pain issues must be addressed.

I keep thinking of different things.  Sorry I am not doing this in one post.

My husband feels that my treatment of my children is coddling them and encouraging hypochondria.  My answer to this is that if a child is depressed, like any other physical ailment, needs to addressed.  It took more than 14 months and numerous doctors to discover the cause of her pain.  She needed anti depressants, a tonsillectomy and hormonal treatment for her female problems which also led to depression and anxiety.  But she is now a happy healthy teenager.  To leave her in her depressed state would have been child abuse in my opinion.  I am also now sending my middle son to a therapist and I may possibly agree to antidepressants for him as well.  I just want them happy and healthy, in body and spirit.  I went through the same with my oldest.

But the point is their father considered what I was doing with and for the children a waste of money and time.  He also considered it unnecessary.

My point is even among one set of parents, attitudes differ.  It is possible that your parents believe as my husband does.  And I can assure you, my husband would walk through the gates of hell for his children.  He loves them dearly.

I always consult him for decisions.   And I then thank him and go do as I believe to be right.  He can scream until the walls of Jericho fall again but when it comes to my children, I am deaf to his rants.  Just the opinion of a mom.

I do take counciling, I spoke to her last friday. She isn't as much help as she used to be. She just told me it was in my head and I need not to worry. As for speeking to a school nurse, I have done that also. I had my parents phoned and informed about what was going on and they just told me it was all because my friend has been putting things in my head and refused to send me to the doctors, how she could do this is beyond me though.  Infact, she helps me.

I have done some help for myself though, One of my friend's mum is a nurse and she is going to ask about it for me. My boyfriend spent ages looking through sites to see if he could find anything and my best friend has been really supportive. I appreciate everyones efforts even You guys on here. Somehow I doubt anything is going to get better, everythiing just seems to want to get worse.

As for my parents, I told them once before and they told me exactly what my counciler did and that I didn't need the doctors. I somewhat wish my mum could be a lil more like you :/

& In answer to what namnam46 has said: It's been about 2 weeks of almost constent pain.
