Shoulder Pain from a bulging disc

I had a MRI on my neck found out that my some of my shoulder pain was from a bulging disc in my neck. The options were shots in my neck next to the spinal cord or chiropractor. My question is their someone that had this problem and what did they do to fix the problem. I just don't which to do. Shots or Chiropractor?

I also have 2 large herniations in my neck. At first my PM doctor sent me to PT while we waited for the MRI results to be evaluated by a neurosurgeon. Once the neurosurgeon saw the MRI he told me to stop PT immediately. He told me not to have anyone manipulate my neck (chiropractor or massage or PT). There was great risk of making it worse.

Now, not everyone has the very same problem... so my situation could be different from yours. The size of the herniation could also make a huge difference.

I keep re-writing my post - I certainly do not want to bash chiropractors and some people swear by them. I think I will leave you with what I would do if I were in your shoes. I would not go to a chiropractor but I would consider the shots.

I have had many many shots over the years in my back. Some worked for great lengths of time and others did not... sometimes it takes a number of shots to get decent relief.

I wish you well, please let us know what you decide to do and how well it is working for you.

I would love to see your research that argues it is impossible to take pressure off a nerve. Whether surgery or a chiropractor, if your having disks problems their attempting to removing pressure off the nerve in both professions. I will be sure to tell all the chiropractors I know that all their scientific schooling was a joke and what they practice is false. That makes sense, thanks for clearing that up for me.

What about getting steroid shots in the disc. Have you done that or has anyone done it?

My Doctor is the one that suggested the Chiropractor to take the pressure off the disc and the nerves in the spinal cord

I would never go to a chiropractor. I would go to a physical therapist and start with over the counter pain medication.
You can't fix the problem even with surgery you will always have some problems. Some day they might perfect the surgery but operating on the spine is risky.
Chiropractors try to take pressure off the nerve. That's impossible, you can strengthen the muscles supporting the spine and neck, but not by stretching and twisting. Most of the people with spine problems that visited a chiropractor made things worse.
