Some Kind Of Stomach Area Pain

I have been suffering some kind of constant stomach area pain for the past several weeks. It is right below my esophagus where it would be entering my stomach. I was having problems with swallowing a few weeks ago along with the pain. I could feel my food and beverage easing down my esophagus. I started taking 20 then after a bit of time 40 mg of Prilosec (normal dose is 20 mg) and that ended  the swallowing issue but the stomach pain remained. I tried Gas X, laxative (even though I wasn't constipated),  the Prilosec (still to this day, and there was one more thing I tried that I can't remember at the moment. I have no appendix or gallbladder. I went to my doctor and he was concerned my esophagus was closing, all x-rays were normal. He wrote a prescription for 20 mg of Prilosec even though he was aware I was taking 40mg of over-the counter. Just to do the x-rays because I have no insurance.

I recently went through something similar.  I went to my Dr and she had me get an upper endoscopy.  My result was esophagitis, which was caused by repeatedly eating something I'm unknowingly allergic to.  In July I go to the allergist to see what it is I'm allergic to.  The difficulty swallowing may be due to a stricture...or narrowing in the esophagus.  I'm not sure why your Dr only ordered an X-ray since an endoscopy is really the most accurate way to diagnose these kinds of problems.  I will tell you that no amount of acid meds will solve these problems.  For me it has to be a diet change.  Please go to your Dr and ask for an endoscopy because it could save your life

Sounds like it could be an ulcer in addition to the heart burn. There is a medication that will treat both, I'm not sure what it is, but ask your doctor for a different one, the one that has the antibiotic in it to help heal the ulcers. Also, avoid NSAID's, they can aggravate your condition. Good luck to you, my husband has this problem and I watch him suffer from it and I know it hurts. Take care.
