Steriods make me very sick, can the pain clinic force them on me?

Hi everyone. I was prescribed methylprednisone for pain, both times I had heart symptoms like shortness of breath, tight chest, red face, nausea and sweating. In order to keep getting pain meds, the pain clinic says I must submit to steroid shots. But after my experience, I'm afraid of steroids altogether. I have spoken to them about this, but they don't take me seriously. I guess my question is, if I had a bad reaction to one type of steroid, is there a chance I will react to all of them? I don't want to chance getting a steroid shot if it gives me heart symptoms. In the meantime, I need pain medication so I can continue to work and function. Thank you, as no one has been able to address this concern.

When I read posts like this, I have a loud opinion I want to share. It goes like this: ****ENSLAVEMENT!!!!!!!!***** I hate stories like this because it's the old "I'll give you narcs if you let me do [fill-in-the-blank]. See, what happens is that as a patient, we may unwittingly become HOOKED on narcs. Most people don't know this, but EVEN IF YOU TAKE YOUR OXY OR HYDRO OR WHATEVER EXACTLY AS PRESCRIBED, after some time, maybe weeks, maybe months, whatever, pretty soon you'll be going into withdrawals EVENTUALLY, and this horrible horrible feeling enslaves us.... it makes us do things we don't want to do, like let doctors shove dangerous steroids up our whatevers. And then a doctor might say "Oh, so you JUST WANT the narcotics, eh? You don't want this REAL medication (e.g. steroid), you just want your PAIN PILLS TO GET  HIGH" and then you feel bad and you're tempted to kiss their ***. So all the above is ONLY my humble opinion -- take it with a grain of salt, get medical help. But, when your post begins with a title using the phrase "force them on me" I have to interject -- YOU are the one showing up at your pain clinic. If you don't show up at the pain clinic, they cannot "make" you take anything! It's a bargain. Some say bargain with the devil -- okay I do what you want me to do if you give me dilaudid etc., etc., and that sucks SUCKS! I don't know your real situation, maybe your pain clinic is good and you are a druggie, or maybe you are for real and the pain clinic is bad, or a combination of both.... but hopefully this post makes you think and gives you perspective.

Next time you have a bad reaction to a medication, get to the doc, an urgent care center or an ER ASAP. This way the reaction can be properly documented. Sometimes a steroid shot will show fewer side effects than oral because it can be administered directly to the problem area. Or, if you have trouble, it may occur sooner and the doc can see the reaction and administer counter measures. I am afraid you will probably have to deal with it all at least once more.

Can you explain you are allergic? If not I would just get the prescription and not take it
