lol Yep tuck I did that with my best friend since high school. When I first saw and talked to her I was like ok I don't like her lol Now 17 years later she is still my best friend and I wouldn't change anything. She has been there for me thru everything and I have tried to be there for her after I moved away. We have never got into a fight EVER. I love her and I always will. When I talked to the other dr I was telling them about the old pain dr and they said the same thing if it don't work out get another reffereal and come see us. So that is always a option. Thanks for bringing up a good point and it was well taken ;)
Thanks
Jamie
You've obtained some good suggestions here. I agree 100% that you should call as soon as you see the physiatrist and make the appt to see the PMP the next day.
As others have said it can take weeks sometimes months to get an appt with a PMP. Take what you can get. Give it a try. If after a time you do not "click" with the the assistant than change.
Have you never met someone you didn't think you would like and after a bit they actually were very nice and you got along very well with them? It has certainly happened to me several times.
You have to make your own decisions. Obviously no one can make them for you but if it were me I would make that appt with the PMP as soon as you left the physciatrist consult.
Good luck to you. I know you will make the best choice for you.
Take Care,
~Tuck
Without question, make/take any appt. offered to you with a reputable Doctor for a issue that normally would require weeks if not, months to wait on. So be reasonable, why engage your body to more pain than ness. Your pain receptors will thank you!!! Take care and Good luck...Pmartin
Most pain docs are notoriously difficult to schedule. Pain management is typically a sideline practice with most of them being primarily anesthesiologists and working in the OR. I'm with the others: grab the bull by the horns and take the appointment.
I can't make the appointment until I leave the shrinks office on the 26th which is next weds. I have not canceled ANY apointments but the first one with the shrink and that was behond my control. She wants me to call as I am walking to the car and ask for her so she can get me in. The problem is my sons allergy testing is thursday too so I am hoping she can get me a time in the afternoon. If she can that would be great, I really don't want to cancel is appt we have waited a long time for it. Im going to call my PCP tomorrow morning and tell them what was said and have them ask the dr if I should go to that pain dr which I know she will cause he can get me in faster. I just thought it was odd that I can't make a sooner appt with anyone else in the office but this one girl. I have tried to get in sooner and it is always "sorry about he is booked and then going on vacation and booked way after he gets back" I talked to her when I was there the one and only time and she was really nice she has one of those voices that you don't forget who it is. I'm pretty sure since all my stuff is already at this office that I will go there. thanks everyone

Jamike, Molly's right, MAKE that appointment first THEN call the PCP....Sherry
Jamie:
You can't keep cancelling appts. for other Doctors. It will look suspicious in your Medical Records. Now that the Nurse is willing to make that appt. for the 27th..you really should consider taking it. It will take you longer to get into this new Doctor should you decide to go that route. You wrote:

My family dr did fax everything over to the new pain dr. I am just waiting for them to call. The other reason I don't want to see the other pain dr is he is going on vacation so I won't be able to see him for atleast 10 weeks, no way I can deal with this pain that long. He didn't even start my treatment so I think I can just change drs right?
Like I said, it won't look good cancelling so many appts. and then trying to find a new Doc again. I'm trying to help you with this and it's my opinion that you take the appt. on the 27th. Once you really get into pain management I think you'll be much happier.
I care :)
Molly
WAIT...I think you should take the Nurses advise and let her make that appt. with the Pain Doctor...I mean c'mon here, what do you have to loose. You have been complaining about the pain for a while now and this is a chance to get into see him.
I feel that this Nurse is ON YOUR SIDE and trying to get you into the Doctor. You can let your PCP know after you make the appt. with the Pain Doctor...at least you'll have an appt.
I really hope you listen to this and make that appt.
My best,
Molly
Get on the phone NOW and call your PCP immediately and tell him what has transpired and ask him what it best and your feelings about the things that you have heard about the PM Dr. and ask about the one that he is sending everything to now and ask what to do!!!
Let us know what he says!!....Sherry
