Just my personal experience but I've had every kind of injection you can think of in the abdomen.   And yes, the TPI injections along with others do cause temporary pain.  It does go away but does hurt worse for a while.

I am so sorry that you pain has been so severe. I really don't think that it is "normal" to have extreme pain following a TPI. Obviously epidural injections often cause some increased pain but a TPI is different.

How are you doing today.  I've been concerned for you and sincerely hope that you are feeling better.

I'm really sorry this is happening.  But yes, this is a normal reaction to them.  Give it a couple of days and it will ease off.  Hopefully you'll get some long term relief from them.  I have.  But yes, the first few days can be pretty rough.

Good luck and ((HUGS))

I'm so sorry to hear that!  I know when I had the epidural injections on my neck it made the pain unbearable.  I had to go back to the doctor to get something for the pain.  Have you called to see if they can do anything for you?

I've never had the TPIs, but I've heard from people that they're great, don't cause the pain of epidurals, etc.  Like Tuck said, I would recommend calling the doctor.  It might just be that the tissue in the abdominal area has more fat (even on fit and lean people) and the fat is where they like to give other shots, I'm not sure why.
I hope you feel better soon and that the TPIs will give you long lasting pain relief after this pain goes away.

Hello GWS,

I am so sorry that you are in such pain. I don't think that is usual and customary but it may be as I have never had abdominal TPI. Please contact your physician.

I have had multiple TPI in other areas of my body and have not noted more than several hours of increased discomfort. And that was only in a few of them. I would think that a injection into the abdominal area for any reason would cause the type of pain you describe. Boy, it's gotta hurt!

Again I am sorry for your increased pain. That is not the intent of TPI. Please let us know how you are doing. As I suggested notify your physician to determine if this is a "normal" reaction. It may just take a day or two for the pain to subside but I'd certainly ask.  When we have chronic pain any additional pain just seems unacceptable.

I'll look forward to hearing from you soon.

Hang in there,
~Tuck
