Effexor and tramadol together = massive mistake or me! I thought I was guna die! I'm glad it works or u ok tho. My depressions more severe so I'm currently off tram for a bit...til I do take it in small doses only again if I really need to. Xx
Yeah in the uk, I'm not sure oxycontins what they easily give. In France, you're talking codeine or tramadol. Tramadol doesn't o a lot for me, and when I used to be on Effexor, I ODed so never touched both at same time again ( serotonin syndrome thing) ...I don't bother with paracetamol. Ibuprofen and aspirin hav given me stomach ulcers. Only codeine does the job. But it's addictive. What's OxyContin exactly?
Hi, I take Tramadol for my chronic back pain. Initially my pain Dr. did not want to prescribe Tramadol for me since I take Effexor for depression.
But after taking so many pain meds, and needing to try a new one, he agreed to let me try Tramadol slowly. The Tramadol has worked well for me, and luckily I didn't have any problems with the combination of drugs. Actually the Tramadol has really helped my mood ( I think because of the snri). So I have started to taper off the Effexor. I was on 150, now taking 75 mg and will be starting 37.5 very other day for the next month.
I hope this info helps you make a decision. Just remember every one experiences drug side effects differently.
Take care, Sue.
hi lola, having been in your position before i would advise you to find another doctor or medication. I suffer from Major Clinical Depression, Anxiety, Panic Disorder and Chronic Pain. I was initially prescribed SSRI based Anti-Depressants for my Depression and Tramadol 200SR for my pain. The SSRI medication "Ecitalopram" i was told would take 5 weeks to kick in. In that time i developed serious side effects and instead of taking me off this medication my doctor threw more pills at me. I was not advised of the potential for Serotonin Toxicity with the Tramal and had numerous other effects that the SSRI was not agreeing with my body. So eventually i found a doctor who listened and changed me to a Tetra-Cyclic Based Anti-Depressant but first i had to spend 3 weeks of hell withdrawing from the SSRI meds and was told it would take another 5 weeks after that to start feeling better about my depression. I have a high tolerance to pharmaceuticals and Tramadol soon proved to not be enough for my pain anyway. I went to Endone (oxycodone) and then to large does of Oxycontin. Meanwhile i'd gone from taking 5mg of valium a day to 8mg of xanax (the equivalent of 32 valiums) for my anxiety. Don't put yourself through what i've been through. I'm still in chronic pain, but the most i take at the moment is a few paracetamol (which i think is more of a placebo)
