People often have swollen lymph nodes and a 'slightly' elevated white count w/o knowing it -- you're fighting off an infection, but that doesn't necessarily mean it's an STD.
We live in an environment of microbes and viruses that our body's sophisticated immune system deals with 24/7. Physiology is a truly fascinating subject. So is microbiology. You might consider taking some courses in college.
Good sleep, daily exercise, proper nutrition -- these are your best ways to help your body fight off infection.
By the way, hand washing is a lost art. Use of a good antiseptic soap, hot water, and a thorough 30-second soaping and rinse removes over 99% of the germs on your hands. Most people, including doctors, are very lax with their hand washing technique.
Young people need to explore their sexuality -- that's why it's good to keep antiseptic mouthwash, soap and hot water around. Unfortunately these days, condoms are a necessity but being in a committed monogamous relationship lowers the risks of very nasty STDs.
If you have a fever, and are experiencing debilitating symptoms -- bad sore throat, sinus infection that shows color and won't go away, productive cough, swollen and painful lymph nodes (in your neck, arm pits, and groin), severe redness, swelling, and pain of an extremity or joint, etc. -- then its time to see your physician for tests.
The left thigh -- who knows? Maybe you pulled a muscle w/o knowing it. Happens all the time. Keep an eye on it.
The symptoms you describe sound very normal. I think your doctor is right -- the yeast infection is treated. Now let your body finish its job dealing with this infection.
Thanks for your input.
I talked to my doctor about ALL my experiences sexually and talked to a nurse practitioner. The guy I did oral on had previous partners, but my boyfriend that I am still with was a virgin. He also never had any sexual experience. The doctor said that oral is not a risk for HIV, and that the sex I had was not because he had no other partners. I freaked out because of swollen glands. I still have swollen glands.
The only reason you would be "worried sick" is if in the back of your mind you are thinking you have HIV. So, go and get tested regardless of whether people "think" that you "shouldn't" have HIV. When your test comes back NEGATIVE, all those other things that you've listed will suddenly stop bothering you.
This is why "adults" "older people" etc., are always harping on the "wait until marriage to have sex" thing.... it's not that they are all a bunch of "prudes" or mean sadistic people who hate how young people can do all the stuff they do nowadays. No, it's because there's "always a price" in nature. For pleasure, there's pain. "Does not the fire need the water too?" "what goes up, must come down," etc., etc.....All the "unprotected sex" you had where you thought you were special and smarter than everybody else... well now look where it got you -- you're a basketcase.
No, I'm not "picking on you," I'm just laying out some facts (and a bunch of opinions, too)
Anyway, go get that HIV test, and then you'll be all fine.
