Hi Coolio
I have to agree with the good advice stated above. Just be honest with your DR about how you are feeling.
You may want to start a pain journal which you can write in every day or every few days. In it you can write down what the pain feels like, what had effected it and not effected it...things like that. You can take it to your DR with you so he can read it too.
Alot of people choose to keep pain journals so that they can better explain things to there DR's..
I hope everything wirks out, let us know how it goes!

Hi Coolio, I'm sorry for the pain you have. Doctors are smart and see all types of people. They know when you are truthful. I have had 2, the first for 15 yrs and my current for 3 yrs. I have always been on the up & up and it has paid off. We have an incredible relationship. If you think your meds are working tell him if not tell him too, they understand. I don't know how but Doc's can seem to read people, almost like esp.....Good luck with everything. Hope you feel better soon. MollyRae
Just tell him the truth, if a medication is not working for you then let him know. He needs to know so he can treat you in the best way possible. As I said don't be afraid to talk to him.
Cool thanx for the help...
Maybe you can help with this : How much can i say to a pain management doctor without him tossing me out ?
I have heard that they get spooked real easy...narcotics and all.....
Another thing to consider is maybe your taking them with food, I can't take my meds with food because even after being on them for years if I take my meds with food for some reason it is like taking a sleeping pill. This could just be me though.
I agree with sandee 1818. Meds often make you tired at first especially when you have a dosage change. If it were me as long as I was getting better pain control I would just drink some coffee or soda to stay more alert until my body had the chance to adjust. It will probably only take a few days. hang in there
When you first start out on them they will make you tired but give it time. I always have taken my meds with coffee or Pepsi because it helps me. I drink Pepsi all the time so it really doesn't have any affect on me anymore. I am addicted to them , I will shake if I don't have them. But just give it time and it will go away. Your not taking much more than you were so it will subside. In the mean time drink some coffee or a caffeine beverage to help. I was taking methadone awhile back and I could not stay awake for nothing. I would fall asleep getting in the car and I had to change meds quickly. If this drowsiness does not go away or get better talk to your DR.
The increase is helping with your pain so give it a chance and do not be afraid to talk to your DR that is what he/she is for. They can help you with this if it don't get better.
Good luck
