Update with Pain Management

I saw my pain management doctor yesterday. Things seem going well. He said I will be having SI joint injection on Feb. 2nd appointment. He made examination and that I have pain on my buttocks and he said I have two things is... herniated disc and SI.... and made arrangement to have SI joint injection. He want to see if it helps with the pain. He also gave me prescription of pain medication. I thought there would be contract to sign, but... he hasn't brought up about contract? He just reviewed my medical records that I was referred from PCP and then talked about it. Pain Mgmt dr seems really nice man, and we discussed about everything. At first I was nervous but now I feel relaxed, you know since it went pretty well. Can anybody share about SI joint that some of you have it and experience, etc? Thanks in advance.... :-)

Hello Sunshine,

Yes I can respond to questions about SIJ Dysfunction. I have had the condition for years and I am in severe chronic pain. If caught early SIJ issues are often successfully treated. I sincerely hope yours can be treated with success. I know how crippling the pain can be.

I have had steroid injections with no significant or lasting relief. I did see a physician connected with a PM Clinic. I did not become a patient of the PM team. I simply went for treatment. In my state PCP treat CP and not PM Clinic, they just do treatments or make recommendations.

I have seen a range of physicians and am told the same thing. There is nothing that can be done to heal or successfully treat my condition. As I said the injections were not successful. If you have specific questions I will be more than happy to respond to them. I wish you the very best and look forward to hearing from you. Please keep in touch. I will watch with great interest for updates on your progress.

Again good luck and take care. Tuck

Hi Sunflower:

I too am glad that your appt. went well. I think your PMP did not make you sign a contract because he doesn't feel that you'll be a long time patient. I think he feels that once your diagnosis is made and the Doc's can fix the problem, you'll be on your way to recovery and a pain free life. Let's hope that's the case.

Doctors get vibes from ppl and his must have been good with you. Again, keep us posted as to your outcome. Take care.

Hey sorry to hear your in pain, and am glad to hear that you have a nice PMP I also did not have a contract with my PMP till after my work started to give me **** about me working there. Its nice not to have that contract due to if you goto the ER or another Dr that they can help you if they can. But even without the contract make sure that you always tell your Dr's what meds you have been taking, just to be on the safe side. I think that most PMP's that do contracts are for the long time ppl they will be helping or its a mandate from the state. I liked when I didnot have the contract with mine, now I have to worrie all the time about my pills. Taking a daily count just incase they call and want to see them. Well again I hope that your injection helps with your pain. Please keep us informed and have a great day ( yea like anyone here can ) well at lease a good day.
