What recourse is thier if your wrongly labeled an abuser?

My husband was wrongly labeled an abuser due to a new and overwhelmed nurse, a nasty, suspicious pharmacist, and a good doctor who got  pissed off and in big trouble due to said pharmacist reporting his practice as over dispensing pain meds, and my husband an abuser.  I will explain further if anyone finds it necessary.  So now, We are experiencing the same response from any Practise we try to start with-  Today an "open door clinic" administrator actually showed my husband screen after screen of big red writing informing everyone about my husband like he was a drug dealer or addict.  A week ago my husband broke his knee on the job and the occ health doctors obviously read the big red writing anout h and recinded thier original diagnosis of multiple fractures of the right knee to a non official opinion that his knee was sprained.  They refused tk issue an official diagnosis.  They say that is the reslpnsibillity of  his primary care giver only he can't get one because he's been black balled.  So our DEA has done such a great job with thier stricter laws....they have a host of good people in the unfortunate position of suffering cruely without the meds they need to have any quality of life.  My husband is now walking around with a nylon splint, crutches, shattered knee, with no diagnosis, so he is considered ok to return to work in level ten pain from the shattered knee,  degenerative joint disease, fibromyalgia, and chronic ulcers of the intestines......my question is, how do you get off the "list" when you've been wrongly labeled by misunderstanding or overly suspicious medical personell?  
How do you correct this wrong?  Does a patient have a voice?  The way I see it, living with my husband, watching his suffering before too long we will see mass suicides of people suffering so badly from pain they will be forced to find relief on thier own.   HELP!!!!

That is totally unbelievable!  I still can't see how anybody - any entity could other tan a big pharmacy - could possibly get a major mfr like say, Pharma or some other to sell them drugs without it being legal at least at the beginning.  You know, we can't just ring up Pharma and order a gallon or a pound of Oxy.  It just cannot be done.

I once saw an advert that said, Buy Seconals.  It turned out to be that you are buying a map with an "x" on the addresses of different pharmacies, IN SPAIN and MEXICO, etc.  So that's how it must be, and they bring it back to the US.

But really, at the bottom of all of it is the simple question "Why?"Why would anyone want to take any of these things if they weren't in horrible, horrible pain?  It does not feel good for me at all.  Not even a little bit.  I think I told you earlier about a site I found before this one.  I think it was all real life junkies talking about wierd ways to take drugs and which was the better high, etc.  I just don't get it at all.

I completely forgot to mention something else.  When my daughter was MIA and she left her car, and they were going to tow it, I, like a fool, thought i would help and pay for them to tow it to my house. Well,after it sitting there forever, I looked inside and she had a thick packet of information from the internet, Drs. names, addresses, what drugs they offered, their prices, I mean, literally every drug from narcotics to viagra. It listed there phone numbers, the time, if you wanted to pay extra to get them sooner, I had NEVER seen anything like it! She had been ordering drugs over the internet while she worked as a CPA. Well,she got caught at work, she was having them delivered, (she THOUGHT she was so smart, and she ws 19 yrs old!),I could not believe the racket of internet buying. A lot of the drugs went through Canada, and from India, and I kept this packet, and have it somewhere, it was incredible!  She admitted it all to me at a certain point. Her boss put her into rehab, her 1st time, but she only stayed about 5 days, her words "I am not like THEM!" This was in 2001. Later, I met a girl who ordered all her meds, needed and un-needed this way, so it is known to a lot of people, but I had NO idea!  I am like you, they know exactly what I take, I need a TAR and it is so regulated, if anything, I don't get it in time. The difference is in the for profit clinics. It's all about the money. If a person just wants drugs, and they aren't in pain, and they are at least street smart or better, they can usually do it. It gives the rest of us a BAD name!

I have often wondered how these or any Rx meds could be abused.  How?  Where do they get them from?  I have to get a special script - the hard copy goes to the phamacy and the doctor faxes a copy to the pharmacy department of my ins co along with a highly detailed pre authorization form and copies of all of his current notes from my office visit.  All of that goes through a review process which takes between 3 to 5 days and if there are any changes in # or instructions the review process takes even longer.  Someone is really paying attention to what I take which is fine because my need and use is genuine and completely legal.  I even keep a daily diary that accounts for every pill and the time it is taken so that at a glance I can see if I'm still on schedule and will have enough to cover the script period.  I'll bet most CP/PM patients do that, too.

But you say that there are places that you can just walk into and get narcotics?  Wow.  I guess they have to come from somewhere.  It's a terrible shame that the misuse/abuse by some people can make it difficult for legitamet patients to receive the care that they so badly need.  I know for myself that if I couldn't get help with my pain that I would have to figure out a permanent way out.  It's just too intense to endure.

What state do you live in? It seems like some states are doing these kinds of things while CA, where I live, lets my daughter walk into any clinic, and she tells THEM she NEEDS pain meds, a LOT!, and they just believe her, and she is lying I might add,(she is a heroin addict and will take any additional drugs she can), and she has even told me, on the one visit she got out of a rehab and was clean (it lasted about 2 seconds!), there was a system that ALL the patients used with the urine, It wasn't the taping it to their leg, which she HAD done, but something involving something just as illegal.  She continues to find these ways, and it's because the clinics SHE goes to are for profit, and they want to KEEP all their patients, they just look the other way! I don't condone this at all, but it seems the differences I read about, on this forum, are so different, I think CA. must be so leniant, but maybe I am wrong.  What states are people running into these red flags on mostly? I know someone who had a red flag, (from another state) and it seemed the minute they entered the doctors office, they were glared at and sometimes asked to leave. How a doctor can legally do that, when they see an obvious injury, does NOT seem legal. I would go to an attorney and tell them everything, they will keep it confidential, but you have to search out a lawyer who only deals with medical issues and doctors. I feel SO bad for your husband, the sheer stress would make his pain level go up immensely, not to mention the black cloud that seems to be there with no end in sight. Let us know what happens, okay? I am so sorry for both of you.
