I have been to so many drs for pain managment, neurosurgeon, PC, PT, Rheumotologist and no one can give me anything that gives me pain relief, What more can I do? I had surgery L5S1 Jan 2007 and still have terrible pain. Im on Vicodin, robaxin, ativan, and celexa.,

Have you been to a pain management dr? My husband goes to one for pain from 3 fusions and has finally found relief. Ask your dr for a referral and don't get discouraged if the first couple of treatments they try don't work. It takes a while to find the right combo of meds and whatever else to get it right. Good Luck

I meant to type "If you have NOT tried the patch yet" and "no longer contain MORE than 325 mg," Sorry for the typo's. The pain in my arm and shoulder is acting up and I'm making mistakes today.

For those of you that have been asking, that is why I haven't been posting as often lately. The nerve damage is getting much worse at this point and I am actually looking foward to surgery on June 17th. I never thought I would be saying that.

Anyway, for those of you that I didn't get a chance to PM yet that is what is going on. I didn't mean to jack this thread. LOL

I am sorry to hear of your pain. I have herniations and a bulge L4-L5 and L5-S1 so I know how you feel. Knock on wood it is the only part of my body that I have not had surgery on as you have.

I am able to control the pain in my back better than the other areas I have problems with stinulation, and ice and heat, as well as pain medication which I also take for other issues as I stated.

As far as medication goes, I can tell you that several people that I know that suffer from back pain such as ours do well on the Fentanyl Patch. Have you ever tried it? My doctor would have put me on it but I did well on Oxycontin without needing an increase in my dosage....yet.

If you have tried the patch yet maybe you might want to talk to your doctor about it. Vicodin is the worst, in my opinion. You have to take too much to get relief and there is just too much Tylenol in it.

I just read an article today that said the FDA is going to force the drug makers to lower the recommended daily intake for Tylenol and all medications like Vicodin will no longer contain mor than 325 mg per pill because of the liver damage it causes.

There are many others here that have severe back issues that may be more helpful to you. They will jump in shortly.

Good Luck.
