ankle pain

Dear sir,
i am 22 yrs old male having ankle joint pain and swelling i consulted with doc at that time my uric acid was 6.6 i took medication  for uric acid now i agin consulted with another doc he was saying i m having connective tissue injury now my uric acid level is 4.9,but i m having high Total Leukocyte Count (TLC) 12800 before it was 11700 its increasing plz tel me what my probblem is according to you....all other reports are normal....i m taking medication for connective tissue injury...

Any chronic inflammation can raise the WBC levels. Apart from gout, ankle pain can be due several reasons depending on the site. The simplest reason of a generalized ankle pain is sprain—like in wearing high heels, twisting your ankle etc. Since there is swelling on one side this could be due to ligament tear or bony spur. Impingement of the ankle joint between the bones of ankle and foot is another possibility. Osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis are the other possibilities. Bursitis can give a sudden onset pain. Dislocation or rupture of a tendon can also cause shooting pain. Stress fractures of medial malleolus, tarsal tunnel syndrome, and sinus tarsi syndrome (pain just front of lateral malleolus on the outer side of ankle) are the other possibilities. The clue to right treatment is right diagnosis of the cause of pain.  You can consult an orthopedic specialist. X-rays, MRI, blood tests etc may be required. Do discuss this with your specialist.
