My insurance company approved me for the occipital nerve stimulator!! yay!!!! I meet with the rep tomorrow to learn how to use it. I'm scheduled for surgery for the trial on Feb. 23rd!! I have so much to do by them because they said I need to see my primary for a physical as well as have some labs done. So a lot to organize!!

Plus the last I talked to them they didn't want me going to class or work the week I had the trial... now I can understand work cause I work with lil kids and could see them coming up to me and pull the wire out or someting like that... but what's the different between my sitting in my room or sitting in class?? I hope they will let me go to class... i really can't afford to miss any class...

But I'm just so excited for this all!! and they are getting me in so quick!!

Thanks! I'm so happy too... though today I learned that I will need to shave more than 1/2 of my head for the surgery... my friends are trying to convince me to just shave it all... but I don't know. It seems so silly to be worrying about my hair when this is something I want so bad... but I just love me hair and it's finally gotten to be so long. :S

Well you can use this time to enjoy wigs and hair pieces! I use then and I have long thick blonde hair! The toni braxton and Jessica simpson ones are just great! I love them and they look really real and normal!
I use the hair extentions with the wigs and create some great looks. I ALWAYS get compliments on MY hair. no one knows except my family and now you all of course.
I am not old and I dress young and stay fit so I may be in my 40"s but I am aa knock out when I dress up in my hair and clothes! Too much confidence? Maybe but I am proud of being able to still turn alot of heads at the grocery store. Haha!
I go to alot of dinner parties and love to

I am very happy that you were approved. And very hopeful that this will make your life more comfortable. Great news!

I would shave my entire head and go with the very fashionable wigs they have today. I have a friend that has not had a hair on her entire body since she was 15. She looks fabulous. No one knows she wears wigs but close friends and family. She is a beautiful woman with a beautiful attitude.

The reason they don't want you to sit in a classroom is because of the restriction just sitting in a classroom chair imposes on your body. At home you will be able to change positions often and not have to sit in those rigid, confining chairs.

Please let us know how you are doing. I will look forward to your updates. Take care of yourself pre and post procedure. Tuck

Hair extentions and wigs DO NOT make the person. It is who you are on the inside that makes you beautiful. It's really sad to think that society is so H*** bent on being thin and beautiful. I think Tuck had a great idea. Shave you entire head and go as you are. Many people today do just that.

Just remember, don't ever feel less than who you really are. Your just as beautiful on the inside as you are on the outside.

Please take care and good luck with everything !!!

Thanks everyone... I'm not sure yet what I'm going to do with my hair, I'm talking to two of my fav. hairdressers to see what they suggest. I have 1/2 of my friends and family telling me to shave it all off. The other 1/2 telling me only to do as much as I need to do. So I'm just being pulled back and forth. Though I have had two friends tell me that they would shave their heads w/ me... but I would feel so bad having them do that! Though it's nice that they are willing.

I guess it's something I just have to get used too, and this last week here with my hair is going to be hard... the thought of getting rid of it is just so hard to me, I'll be working though a lot of feelings this week I think. Though I have learned which friends to go to comfort for because some were just mean about it when I told them. :S

Oh... and I was so upset over the hair thing I forgot to mention that I did get the ok to go to my classes... apparently the reason why they said she likes people to stay home is because there is no driving with the implant, but I live on campus so I don't have to drive anywhere. :-) This is really good news because it turns out I will be having the implant in for 10 days!
