I have suffered with bursitis bilaterally for over 2 yrs....had a L hip bursectomy with little relief. Have tried PT, anti-inflammatory meds, and pain meds..
Just recently went to pain management and the physician suggested bilat hip injections...he felt it was arthritis...it did not help..
I continue to suffer with swelling and extreme pain in both hips, I am unable to lay on either side for long...
I don't know what else to try and it seems, neither do the doctors

Hi,
Welcome to the Pain management community:)
I have bursitis and sciatica and when I sleep on either side my hips hurt so badly the next morning. I can not stay on one side too long as it is too painful at night also.
I would suggest seeing your Doctor about getting some injections in your hip if you have sciatica or bursitis. They help me a great deal.

Hello Momma,

Welcome to MedHelp's Pain Management Forum. I am sorry to hear of your bilateral hip pain...which is a bit unusual. Normally hip pain will be noted in one side or the other....or one will develop an arthritic condition and the other does not for some time, if ever.

I first thought was you may have trochanter (hip) bursitis. ...or possibly a rarer infection of the hip joint. However that is very rare bilaterally.

Our hip joint contains the largest bursea in the body. When inflamed the pain can be excruciating. It is often warm to touch and can even become slightly reddened.

Because you have an elevated temperature for three days along with this hip pain I would not hesitate to seek the opinion of a medical professional. Urgent Care or even ER should be seriously considered.

I hope you will let us know how you are doing...and what you discover. I will look forward to your updates with interest. Best of luck to you. And Please get your painful hips evaluated by a physician.

Take Care,
~Tuck
