Hi JennyParker,
Welcome to the Pain Management Forum. I am glad that you found us but very sorry to hear about your pain.
Did you have chicken pox as a child? Nine out of ten of us answer yes to that question. As Mellie suggested your symptoms sound like the beginning of a Shingles outbreak. Shingles is caused by the same virus that causes chickenpox. The older a person is the more likely they are to develop Shingles.
Shingle usually presents with burning, painful to touch skin several days before a painful blistering rash appears. It's usually on one side of the body. It can appear any where but most often along the belt line. It effects the nerves and will follow their path. Shingles rash disappears in approximately 30 days and the pain should dissipate as the rash heals. At it's height even the breeze across your effected area can be painful.
For some ppl the pain pf Shingles can linger after the rash has resolved. I encourage you to make an appointment with your PCP. Early treatment can mean less pain.
Of course I could be completely wrong and that is why it's important to consult your PCP. I hope you will let us know how you are doing. We will look forward to your updates.
Peace,
~Tuck
How long has this been going on? Do you have any kind of rash? Shingles can start out with that before the rash presents.
Since you're so uncomfortable with this, you really need to see your doctor. It could be a lot of things. I have that same feeling due to both fibromyalgia and nerve pain from RSD. My son loves to rub my wrist really lightly before he goes to sleep and it is true agony and I usually have to tell him to stop.
There are things they can prescribe for shingles pain, nerve pain and fibromyalgia that can help with this kind of pain. I feel for you as I know how excrutiating it can be. Not sure how the Vitamin D, liver function fits in, which is why you need to see the doctor.
