can i get my percocet perscription filled 3days before i run out?

I am on the maximum dose of percocet 5/325. I get a new prescription every 2weeks. But last time I got my prescription my doctor gave me 32extra pills. So I get my prescription on wednesday, but will the pharmacy refuse to fill it that day because of the 32 extra pills? I would like to get it filled that day because I'm going to be very busy this week, will it be a problem?

Little lady,
I really hope you will make it clear to your Doctor on your next visit about changing your medications to a much lower amount of acetaminophen. There are much safer medications you can take while pregnant. The amount of acetaminophen your taking now is just too much while pregnant. ask your Doctor about switching to a medicine without the acetaminophen such as oxycodone 5mg. There are different dosages but you should take the least amount you can get by on. I urge you to do this as soon as possible as your consuming 3900 mg's of acetaminophen daily and that is extremely excessive in your condition especially.
I hope you have a wonderful new year:)

Ballgame,
This is the pain management community and many here are taking pain medications as it is necessary to function and have quality of life that would not be possible without them. you may be thinking of the substance abuse community when you say this forum is about getting off of their medicines.

Thank you guys so much, I really do enjoy this forum, its been quite helpful already. I have already asked me doctor about that, I don't know if she misunderstood what I was asking, but she said we don't have supplies of different doses her in canada, maybe I will try asking the pharmacist, I would like my medication dose as low as possible with effective pain relief! I would be happy to cut anything out, even if its just tylenol! Again that you all so much!

Hi littlelady,

First I want to welcome you to the Pain Management Forum and let you know that we are glad you found this Forum. I want to let you know that there are NO Doctors on this Forum only CP - Chronic Pain - Patients that help each other with our OWN expertise and experiences that we have developed through our OWN CP Issues.

I want you to know that we have MANY pregnant ladies on here that HAVE to be on the meds.  We just had one of our Most-Beloved members, JadedSweetheart, that was on MUCH higher doses than you are taking and her baby was born with NO dependency what-so-ever.  I'm going to give you a link to her journals {as she hasn't started to post yet after her babies birth} and they may be of some help to you.  She has done a GREAT job in PROVING  that you CAN take pain meds and STILL have a TOTALLY healthy Baby.  :)

What Ashelen suggested is a VERY good idea as you sure don't want to take any more acetaminophen than is necessary. Yet, you will STILL get the same pain management!!

You will get a LOT of support on here for your pain as you go through your pregnancy. ALSO, you might want to check out our Pregnancy Forums on the Forum tab at the top of the page.

We are VERY glad that you came here for help and we hope that you will be a contributing member on here from now on.  :)

Please keep us updated on your progress as we care about you!

Best of luck in your pregnancy and your delivery of that BEAUTIFUL Baby Boy.......Sherry

Just a suggestion - if you're having to take 2x 5/325's you may want to talk to your doctor about switching to 10/325. it's the same amount of oxycodone but you won't be putting your liver (and your baby's liver) at risk by taking such high doses of acetaminophen.

Yes I am pregnant, and I feel horrible having to take these meds everyday, I don't abuse them, I just take as prescribed. I'm so stuck I don't know what to do, if I don't take the meds, I can't even get to the bathroom without some1s help, if I do take them, I still have pain, but it is more manageable, I also have a 2yrold to take care of, if it weren't for her, I'd just lay in bed and take way less medication, but I can't. I'm hoping the surgery will help after my little boy is born! Thank you, I will ask my doctor, I just don't want to be in trouble or viewed as a drug seeker, especially because I'm pregnant and have a little girl as well!

Okay. I understand. Here's my answer: If you're going to be at the doctor's office that day then just ask him. I know you're pregnant and must be in some pretty severe pain to be taking 12 Percocet a day. I defer to whatever the doctor tells you is alright to do.

I am taking the maximum dose, 2tablets every 4hours, which works out to 12 a day, I'm not taking more than prescribed, I will have the extras which is about 2 and a half days worth, its just my pharmacy is at the doctors office and it is hard for me to get out, so it is better to get them filled when I go to the doctors. I'm waiting on back surgery, so until then I'm stuck on a large amount of meds.

Is your dose one per day? If not,how many are you prescribed per day? Why did the doctor order 32 extra pills?    In any case,I would say no,they won't fill it if it's at Walgreens.  But,this begs the question: How come you need it in spite of the extra pills? Taking more than prescribed? And,are you sure you'll have an rx on wednesday? It sounds like he gave you a month supply instead of two weeks...

Umm not sure how we can answer that. Answer is probably won't be able too. I can't get mine any earlier than it's written for. But this forum is about people getting help off meds.
