chest pain for 4 years

by mmfreshie, May 03, 2007 12:00AM
I have had chest pains on the left side and up into my neck and back for about 4 years. I went to a Dr. about it and had and ultrasound done on my heart. I also had the dye put through my heart. Everything looked o.k.. It seems to happen at night and sometimes wakes me up. It's more of a sharp pain and sometimes will subside if I move around. I suffer from anxiety and panic attacks and I always think I'm going to die so night time is difficult (too quiet and too much time to think). I own a Pet Salon so I do alot of lifting of heavy dogs. I'm also a bit overweight but I eat right and try to exercize. Could I have pulled muscles or torn something in my chest or neck/back area that have never been able to heal because of my profession and is now coming out in an anxiety form when I'm tense? Help - I want to get a good nights sleep.

Have you spoken with your doctor about your anxiety?  I suffered from Panic and Anxiety for many years.  It can manifest itself in many ways through phsyical symptoms, leading those of us that have been through it or going through it; to feel that we are going to die.

You certainly ARE NOT crazy.  So be assured by that.  Anxiety and panic are very REAL.  It's time to have a thorough discussion with your doctor and be put on the appropriate meds and counseling, to get you through this difficult time in your life.  You CAN be helped, so your life is not ruled by panic.

In my case, I learned to "allow" the panic attacks to happen, all the while, telling myself that this would not kill me.  I even told the "panic" "to bring itself on..come on Panic, give it your best shot."  That along with medication (that I now no longer have to take) counseling and hyponotherapy, helped me to rid myself of all panic and anxiety for good.  As was told to me, anxiety attacks deminish with age....

I DO feel your discomfort.  I know exactly what you are going through.  There IS help out there.  You will NOT die from having a panic or anxiety attack.  Please trust me on this one.  Having greater panic at night, is obviously causing you even more anxiety.  Talk with your doctor TODAY.  You do not need to suffer...there IS help.  And you don't need to suffer in slience... You are NOT alone.

My very best wishes and hope for a full recovery.   Heather

Thank you for your input. I hate living this way. Hopefully things will all work out.
