chondritis?

I get a squeezing pain in my back right where the spine and ribs meet.It seems to be more of a cramp than pain. Then I notice it tends to travel to my ribs. When Im at the computer,it seems both bottom ribs feel inflamed and at other times it can feel like my whole rib cage is inflamed.
I can touch a certain spot on a rib and feel a bruised sensation. Then when I touch the same place minutes later its gone. It seems to aggravate me more by repetitive lifting,or walking long distances. Then it can disappear for a few days then comes back.
Any help would be appreciated.

It does sound a bit like costochondritis.  But you really need to have a doctor evaluate it.  If that's what it is, it generally resolves fairly quickly on its own.  But the weekend is here.  Try to get in to see your doctor before the weekend.  He may prescribe some anti-inflammatories for you or something else.  Probably best to avoid the ER on the weekend if you can.  Let us know what goes on and what your diagnosis is.  You don't say how long it's been going on, but a good rule of thumb is if something is bothering you for 2 weeks, no matter how minor, get it checked  And, of course, I don't have any medical training, and I'm just guessing on the sparse information you gave.

Best to get checked and get to the bottom of it.

Hi Roswell:  I'd like to welcome you to the Pain Management community.  Have you been evaluated by a doctor?  If so, what is your diagnosis?  Because we're not doctors here as you well know, our guesses are just that.  Some here have more educated guesses than others but I am not among them.

Have you seen a pain management physician?  If not, after receiving a diagnosis ask your doctor to refer you to a pain management specialist who can give you appropriate treatment. This could entail procedures or medications or a combination of the both.

Please check back in the morning.  There will be more people around.  I'm certain one of our other members can advise you better.

Again, welcome to the Pain Management forum.  I wish you the best of luck in finding relief for your pain.
