chronic facial and head pain

i have been having this horrible pain and pressure on the right side of my face and head for about 2 years and it has increasingly gotten worse in the past month. a brain mri without contrast showed an enlarged pituitary gland. i have been to several doctors including a nuerologist who gave me percocet. i don't want to have to take this forever although it has been the only thing to releive the pain so far. it has gotten so bad some days i contemplate suicide beacause i just can't stand it anymore. what should i do? by the way i have no insurance so i have really exhausted my finances on doctors and meds that don't work. i don't know what to do. can someone please help??

Hello and Welcome to the Pain Mangement Forum,

I am so very sorry to hear about your chronic pain. We all know how disruptive pain can be to every aspect of our lives. My heart goes out to you.

If I understand you correctly it is an enlarged pituitary gland that physician's beleive is causing your pain. Do they know why this important gland is enlarged? It is a question I would want answered.

I am sorry that you do not have insurance. In my state there are insurances and programs through social services. Usually one of these services are available to everyone that meets the criteria, which is basically those without insurance and/or unemployed.  Please check into your states services. Sometimes our state will give you a one or two time voucher to see a physician for a particular condition.

Some larger cities have free clinics or state hospitals that take those that cannot pay. Please don't give up my dear. No one should have to suffer in pain without treatment. There is always hope no matter how dark things may appear. And don't be embarrassed if you need to ask for assistance. We all need a little help from time to time in our lives.

In my state you can not be turned away for medical care based on your ability to pay. Again please check into your state laws.

I wish I had some magic answers for you. I don't. But please know that we are here to support you as best we can. Keep us posted and let us know how you are doing. Feel free to become active in our community. I will look forward to hearing from you again soon. I wish you the very best.

Take Care,
~Tuck

Hi:

I would go to your local Social Service and see if the have programs to cover your Medical bills.

You really need to keep at the Medical Community and solve this problem. Sometimes it takes years before a diagnosis is made.

Sorry I don't have better advise for you.

My best,
Mollyrae
