continuous pain after L5 op

I had spinal fusion L5 and bulging disc  December last year. After the op I couldn't move my right leg after a week I was preped for an emergency op as they found a blood clot after this op had some feeling in right leg. I was discharged but my pain for worse I've had two follow ups  and xray and mri scans are all normal. I'm in constant pain along my lower back my hips are killing me and I get  pins and needles and numbness in my legs feet and hands. I am at my wits and still on alot of medication. the op was the last straw but I'm worse now then before. my gp has referred me to neurology but I'm the meantime I just want to know is this normal? will it go away? any pointers or suggestions to help?

Hi I am very sorry to hear of your experience.  It is awful to get the surgery and still have pain.  I had the l4l5 disectomy in August, while the severe pain was helped, it has taken a long while to recover.  I was told it could take 6 months or more for the nerves to calm down.  Every day I pray I will wake up pain free.  Some days I do, others not so much.  If I do too much my pain returns, nothing like before surgery though.
If you are still having same or more pain, I would get a second opinion.  Again, I am sorry.

I had an L4L5 discectomey 2 years ago and still struggle with pain. The surgery cured 80% of my pain but I still have localized and nerve pain. Did surgery help at all with the pain?
