At least you called Cherylv. But please rest until you are able to speak with the physician directly.

My father did not have a sedative of any kind. He only had the ESI and it was in the hospital. Therefore I think that it may not be related a sedative side effect. It may be from the procedure.

In my opinion if your symptoms return I would not call I would go to the ER.
Sleep well,

I was just sending you another message. If you have nausea and diareaha along with that metal taste it is a negative reaction to the injection.

I have always gotten them in the hospital and not in the doctor's office.

Tuckamore is a RN and I would take her advice and at least make a call to make sure your going to be okay. You have had these injections before and never had this reaction.

Please play it safe.

Keep us updated.

I agree with you, that is why I asked the questions that I asked. The two medications that I mentioned will do this if you have a bad reaction to them.

I am assuming she returned to the hospital as she has not posted back and it has been three hours.

I hope she is okay.

Cherylv,

Hello and welcome to the Pain Management Forum. I want to make this quick for you.

My father had an ESI a bit over two weeks ago, which is what a assume you had by your explanation. One of the instructions they stressed is if he had a metal taste in his mouth he was to call them immediately or call ER. So based on what they told my father I would call asap. And I suggest you rest in bed in the meantime unless you have been instructed to do otherwise.

Please let us now how you are doing.

I need you to answer some questions as I have a good idea what is wrong.

Did you have an Epidural Corticosteroid Injection or a Facet Injection?

Was it done in a hospital or in the doctor's office?

Were you administered Versed and Fentanyl before you were given the injection?

I have had injections three times and have reactions to them but I can't be sure that is what is happening with you unless you answer those questions.
