Hi Gurnett,

Great to hear from you. I have been concerned and was wondering how you were doing. I haven't been to your other updated post yet but I will make it there. Thank you for the updates!

You certainly had the run around at the clinic. It's a shame that they lost your test results but at least didn't have to repeat a real painful test.  I guess we have to be thankful for the little things.

I am hopeful that the "phyis" will help you and improve your symptoms. At least it sounds like your physicians are trying to get to the bottom of your problems. Maybe November will provide you with more answers. The "meeting" is normal.  As Sherry said it's consists of a group of physicians going over your test results, symptoms and the like. They'll be trying to come up with a diagnosis, treatments, ideas and so forth. It a good approach to find the best plan of care.  I really sounds like they care about you!

How are your pain levels and symptoms? Has there been any change since you last posted?   I'll look forward to hearing from you again.

Take Care,
~Tuck

HI Gurneet,

I want you to know that I just posted on your other post. But I do want you to know that I'm VERY happy that your Doctor will KEEP digging until he finds a Diagnosis for you!!!
I went ahead and copied and pasted it over here also for you.  :)

I was wondering how you were doing!! :)

I'm sorry that you had such a MIXED-UP day at the Doctor's!!  I'm glad thought that they were able to get the Ultrasound done immediately instead of having to wait for many more weeks and THEN have to come back.

It also makes me sad that they couldn't give you a diagnosis RIGHT then about your hand. However, I'm glad that your Doctor is going to bring YOUR case up at the meeting that he will have with his OTHER Colleagues to try to come up with a Diagnosis for you on your hand.  I'm VERY glad that you have a Doctor that ISN'T going to give up until he can come up with a Diagnosis for you.  You DESERVE that!!!

I'm so glad that you are keeping us updated as we TRULY care about you and are VERY concerned for you, Dear Friend.......Sherry

PS I KNOW that Tuck will be around later as she has always been VERY concerned about you.  :)

On 26th july i had an appointnent with vascular surgery doctor at 2.50pm. The thing was that the doctor could not find the result of the ultrasound scan which i had on the 14th july which meant that i had to go and have it again. I can back fronm the ultrasound scan and the doc was call on an emergency so i had to wait to be called when the doc came back. It was around 5.15pm when i was called in to see the doc. The doc do not know what i have and i sent me for phyiso. my next appointment is made for is in november maybe the might know what it is cause the doc was say that we have a meeting on friday that week so we will talk about ur case and see what other doctor think what it is. So when u come to the next appointment we might have the answer..

Hello again Gurneet,

It is good to hear from you again. I will try to help you understand the blood tests you had done. Please remember that I am not a physician or an expert of anything.

I am pleased that your other tests were normal. That sounds encouraging.

CRP is a blood test, or another way to say it is C Reactive Protein test. This test measures the concentration in blood serum of a special type of protein produced in the liver that is present during episodes of acute inflammation or infection. The test is not specific, meaning that if it i elevated you certainly have XYZ. However high result generally means there is an acute inflammation such as a of inflammatory rheumatic diseases, such as rheumatoid arthritis or lupus. Greater than 2mg/dl is considered elevated however to indicate most infections and inflammations the CRP levels above usually 10 mg/dL

ESR stands for erythrocyte sedimentation rate. (A blood test measuring inflammation) It's probably better known as your "SED rate." This test too looks for inflammation and when elevated does not give a specific diagnosis. Different levels of high tell your physician different possibilities.

When your physician is looking for inflammation such as that caused with arthritis these are the two most common tests he will reply on for an accurate diagnosis along with your symptoms.

Serum Copper (blood levels) levels are useful tests for detecting copper deficiency. Copper is a component of many body proteins; almost all of the body's copper is bound within copper proteins. Unbound (free) copper ions are toxic. Again this test is not specific to any one disease process. It's another diagnostic tool your physician uses to determine a diagnosis. Your levels of Copper can be elevated if you have rheumatoid arthritis. it can also be elevated in pregnancy, which I doubt apples to you. I just included that so you will understand how non-specific this test can be.  Serum simply means blood....so it's the copper levels in your blood that are being tested.

After those lengthy explanations what does this all mean when it's put together with your symptoms. That's a question that can only be correctly answered by a physician. However to me (not an expert) they point to exactly what your physicians are telling you, arthritis or even more specifically rheumatoid arthritis.

You should never feel that arthritis is "nothing" or that all this pain cannot be "just arthritis".  Arthritis can be and is a very painful, sometimes crippling disease. It can be controlled in varying degrees with medications and exercise.

I agree that a rheumatologist is the direction that you should go. They are the specialist in diagnosing and treating arthritis and other inflamatory disease conditions. He/she may begin a treatment program for you to improve your pain and functioning levels. If a rheumatologist is unable to manage your pain than I would see a pain management team. I have hope that the rheumatologist may be able to so this on their own.

Again it was good to hear from you. I hope I made my answers clear. But don't hesitate to ask a specific question or to ask for clarification.

I wish you the very best and hope that you will find some pain releif. I'll look forward to hearing from you again.

Take Care and Good Luck,
~Tuck

Hi Gurneet,

I'm really glad that you had a negative report. This is REALLY good news!!

You need to go to your Dr. and have them look at your Blood Results and let your DOCTOR  tell you if this is anything to be concerned about.

i'm really sorry BUT we AREN'T Doctors on here and we can't give you that type of Information. Plus, we'd need to know JUST how high these readings were and what was a NORMAL level. There's just know way to be able to tell you anything at all without some more information.  :)

I'm really sorry. I hope that you can give us some more information. Your Dr. SHOULD have given youa copy of yor test so that you would have your readings.

You really need to see your PCP.

Good Luck and PLEASE keep us updated....Sherry
