leg pains

Lately i have been having bad leg pains it feels like someone is stabbing me with knives all up and down both of my legs it usually when i sit down for long periods of time or when i lay down in bed i have no idea of why im having these pains....what could be the cause of these pains in my legs?

I  am 57 and work long shifts at a hosp.  When I am in bed at night I will have bad pain in both shins.  It is worse after long hard days at work.
It keeps me up at night.

I wish I had an answer for you. I cannot guess what you may be causing your leg pain, You're young and should not have arthritis or similar inflammatory condition but it is small possibility.

Have you changed your activities or your changed your shoes?  Have you had a virus? Those are things that come to mind. Obviously there are many possibilities and only your PCP can find the source of your pain.
