My name is rene and I am 35 yrs old. I have had lt sided tempel pain for now about a year. I was seen by a nero doct last year and had a mri but nothing was found wrong. I do get migaines so it was kinda put that it is just a bad migraine. Along with the lt side temp pain , i also get facial numbess on that same side and some neck pain. I have had eye exams and no problems have been told to me. I am at a loss , this pain can be unbearable. There has to be a reason for this. i need some help either with meds that work or something. Any suggestions on what i need to do now?? I mean this month along I have had this pain at least 3 times. Its scary.. Please give me your advise... rene todd

Have they done a CT with contrast of the cranium ? You mentioned MRI, but??? Contrast or without ?

I am assuming they found no intra cranial blockages ? VERY bad mig. can at times give the person the sensation that their face is numb *due to the excessive pain they're experiencing*.   Its definately something that should be checked up and down if those symptoms are coming out, BUT if its just a question of mig.  then it might be an idea to ask your doctor about a medication called Topamax.

Originally it was used as an anti seizure medication, but its been found to have a lot of other uses besides that due to the side effects of it.
For example: It seems to help with severe head aches such as mig.'s.  It cuts down on the production of C.S.F. in the brain and seems to help with pain in some cases.

I know several people that are on it for different reasons (yet none of them because of seizures) and it works well for them.  It might be an idea to ask your doctor about that.  I'm not sure what conventional pain medication would be good for you and if you can avoid those, youre better off as you would probably need narcotic pain meds.   As someone that is on large amounts of those, if you can get away with not taking them you are much better off.
