methadone or seboxen

by ratdog95, Jan 29, 2009 11:15AM
Is methadone or seboxen better for drug addiction. I've been on methadone for 5 years and would like to switch. What kind of withdrawels will I go through at the beginning of the switch?

Hi Ratdog,

Welcome to the pain management forum. I don't have any personal experience but from my researching the subject it appears that for drug addiction suboxone is the preferred drug. The withdrawal from methadone, if any should be counteracted by the suboxone.

We have an substance abuse forum at MedHelp that may be able to respond to your question better than our pain management members. We are not trying to get off narcotics, we need them to function.

Good luck to you and take care, Tuck
