morphine pump

I really need some advice! I have scoliosis and my lumber is fused already. Now I was diagnosed with cervical spinal stenosis and my neuro wants to fuse my neck, C-3 to C-7.  So my pain management doc wants to do a trial morphine pump bc nothing else is really working.  Nothing, I have tried just about everything.....fentynal patch, etc. I am currently on Lortab, Soma, xanex, neurotin and ambeim cr 12.5, yes, the pain is 24/7 so I am asking for adcice on the pump! Plzzzzzzzzz all who are on it plzzzzzzz advise! Thank you so much.

PS. I am sick of all the pills!

First recognize that Pain Specialists are like everyone else, they vary in competance and personalities.Get one that you feel cares abot your problems.He/she may not be any more effective in providing you relief but you'll feel better emotionally. My experience with a infusion pump has beeen disappointing so I can't help you there.Good luck!

Thanks sandee1818, yes, i have tried fentynal patch 25mcg to 100mcg, but it made my spine too rigid.........my pain dr. now insists on me trying the pump.  As i now know that PM  is trial and error i guess i will give it a shot.  I have always preferred Demerol but I have done morphine sulfate which worked good too.  My pain dr, will not let me try anything stronger at this time?

If your on lortab then you do have other optioins that are much stronger.
I have heard some say the pupm worked great and some that say it did not help them. My uncle tried it and stuck with it as it did work for him. Everyone is different, what works for one may not work for another person so you just have try and see if it is for you.
I would try the other option first though. have you tried the long acting time release meds such as oxycontin. Also hydromorhone is a strong medication for pain.
Keeps us up to date and let us know if we can help:)
