It depends on your dr. All those meds are on different schedules so it depends on what he may feel comfortable doing. Your schedule 2's can onlt be filled by a written script so a lot of docs feel uneasy with these, except PM docs. To me, I have had those schedule 2 meds and my Lortab that is schedule 3 and can be called in and I would take it any day over Percs, Dem., Morp. or any of those. That is just me though. Those meds they give you after surgeries like the Morph or Demo. make me mean. I don't know if it is a sdie effect or that I am expecting it to work and it doesn't, or I am so sleepy but still hurt so badly. I dunno! I told my doc that I didn't want anything like that after my c section and if that is what they were going to give me, not to give me anything. They gave my Dilaudid. So much better. I had my section at 8 am, back in my room at 10, started oral meds at 11 and was walking by noon. I saw my doc and had my cath and IV pulled out by 2.
I had a two level cervical fusion 5 months ago. I am now in more pain than I was to begin with, so I have been on a few different drugs. First I was on Hydros, then after they quit working I was on Percocets, they really did pretty good until I also become resistant to them. Now I'm on Demerol. The longer you take something the less it will help. You may ask your doctor if you could try Percocet, they were very effective when I was taking them.
