nerve injury during dental work

by Sonny118, Nov 07, 2007 12:02PM
AFter having dental work in 2006, I have a dx nerve injury.  I also have a neuroma in my mouth.   I am wondering if this will ever go away.  Do the symptoms decrease?   Will they be aggravated every time I have to have dental work?   Also, what are my options for pain mgt. besides medication?

I lost 5 teeth already thanks to the dentist who caused this, I would like implants and the oral surgeon I'm working w/ says I am a candidate.   Will the implant procedure if done correctly not effect the nerves?

Please help!   Thank you.

do not really know what you can do for pain if you do not want to go on meds. There is always that stuff like orajel but I do not think that will help you. I had a reaction in the spring to crest pro health toothpaste. It was right after the dentist pulled a tooth and did a root canal on the tooth above that. I picked up some coupons in the dental office and that weekend when shopping and got the toothpaste. Well, my mouth was burning, nerve pain like crazy and swollen tongue, coundn't sleep and was a mess. Took a month of running from oral surgeons to cancer specialist to allergist. Finally found out it was the toothpaste! Call the company and was surprised to be transferred to a nurse on call! Turns out others were also having reactions. Although my was a little servere - it wiped out all the pigment on most of my gums. Dr. says it may never return. So watch the products you use, it could really make things worse.
