Hello lady and welcome to MH. Like Tuck has mentioned, this is a wonderful site for information regarding medical issues. It is also a nice place to meet new friends and chat with others who have some of the same issues as you.

I noticed that you had used Lumbar Back Pain as your tag. Do you have back pain? I have many issues with my back including 5 surgerys and I have also taken Neurontin. It has not been effective in my teatment for pain but it has been effctive for my nerve issues. Good luck with everything.....Mollyrae

Hello ladyl16,
Welcome to MH. You will discover a world of support and information among our members. I am glad you found us. I am also sorry your post wasn't answered a bit sooner.
Neurontin is an anti-epileptic medication, also called an anticonvulsant. It affects chemicals and nerves in the body that are involved in the cause of seizures and some types of pain. More and more this is being prescribed for various causes of nerve pain. Also it reportedly is showing success as a ************** option for fibromyalgia symptoms. Neurotin is chemically similar to the drug Lyrica. Neurontin is also used to treat nerve pain caused by herpes virus or shingles. It can interact with hydrocodone, morphine or naproxen and others.
I have taken it but it was not successful in treating my sciatic pain. However others have had relief.
I hope this bit of information helps you. If you have additional questions please continue to post. Take care of yourself and let us know how you are doing. Tuck
