Hi Hotmama,

I am glad you found us at MedHelp. Have you discussed this with your OB or with your PMP?? This forum is supportive and knowledgeable but when you are talking about these high doses of narcotics during pregnancy we are not qualified to provide with any thing but an educated guess or what we can research on the Internet.

If you are a CF suffer than the physician that is prescribing these meds for you along with your OB should have a consultation and make this determination. My advice (educated guess) would be that you should not be talking this amount of narcotics while you are pregnant. I cannot imagine your baby would not be born addicted. However I would guess that if you weaned off the narcotics you will experience severe CP. I think you need to weight the pros and cons. You face a challenging decision.

I wish you and your baby all the best. Please take care of both and let us know how you are doing. Tuck

I am assuming your asking if you can take oxycodone without tylenol safety while pregnant.
I quit taking my meds while I was pregnant with both of my girls and it was awful but I endured and feel better as I gave them a better start in life.
Using narcotics while your pregnant is dangerous but if you have to have the pain medications please get a HIGH RISK OB so they can be ready for any complications that arise with you or the baby. I do know it is advised you stop taking it well before the birth.
You might want to try alternative methods of pain management as well including relaxation exercises, meditation, massage, etc. They can be quite helpful in reducing levels of pain medication needed.

There are no human studies that I am aware of on using oxycodone most of them are done with animals. I will look into some research for you and get back to you.

PS- There is a Substance Abuse Forum available. You might want to check that out as well.

If you are addicted to oxycodone your baby is addicted.  The sooner you can w/d from the oxy's the better for the baby.  But you should not do it alone, you need to have the doctors supervision as you could loose the baby trying to w/d.  Don't wait until later it'll be much harder and your baby will have a much harder time as well.  I've also read that as your baby grows you will need to increase your dosages as he/she starts obsorbing more and more the opiate.
Good luck and please be careful.

Hello Hotmama:

I certianly cannot tell you what to take and what not to take, especially when pregnant. Please advise with your Doctor as they are the one to make that call.

There are no Doctors on this forum, only others in pain who may give advise.

Take care and good luck,

Mollyrae
