Just wandering if you have found anythhing out about your pain. I too, have suffered from I think the same kind of pain. I it always happens when I'm sleeping and the pain would wake me up from a deep sleep. I usually sit up rocking back and forth trying to massage it. The pain would usually last any where from 15 minutes to 30 minutes. Doesn't happen all the time, but its getting more frequent now. I've had it for years and never quite knew how to explain it to the doctors. Had one saying that strained myself during the day. I really don't think that is the case.

Hello and Welcome to the Pain Management Forum. I am sorry to hear about your gluteal (buttock) pain. It doesn't sound "normal" to me.

In our mid-gluteal area is our SI Joint. When ppl are able to touch the exact spot that pain originates in that area it is often a clue into what may be a SI Joint problem. Often a D.O. can diagnosis these type of issues.

I hope you will seek a clinical evaluation. Please let us know how you are doing. I'll look forward to hearing from you again.

Take Care,
~Tuck
