pain in pelvic region and anus?

im a 19 yr old female ,i've been getting this sharp pain around my anus. This morning it started out as pain around my bladder and shot down to my anus. the pain felt like a build up of gas and then it got worse. i went to the bathroom , there was no blood and the pain went away shortly after. the pain comes back but at times it isnt so bad its like a light dull pain in my butt . has anyone experienced this or know what it could be?

I agree with the others that you should go to the ER or doctor's office ASAP.  It sounds like it might be some sort of spasm.  I know they are extremely painful when they are in a sensitive area.  It could also be some sort of urinary/reproductive tract problem. It reminds me of the pain of a dialating cervix.  (They say the cervix has no nerve endings on the surface, but I have had that pain many times so I think it does on the inside.)
I think Sherry is right about trying the laxative (if you don't want to go to the ER), to try while you wait for a doctor's appt.  I have had that sort of pain when severely constipated.
I hope you get to a doctor soon to get it checked out.

There are so many things that could be causing your pain, but the only way to find out for sure is to see your doctor.  Believe me, we ALL wish we could be diagnosed and treated over the internet, but it just doesn't work that way.  You need a hands-on exam by a doctor.  Any kind of pain needs investigation.  Your body is telling you something isn't right, so listen to it!  It may be something entirely benign and temporary, but then again it may not.  No point in torturing yourself with speculation so go ahead and make that appointment.  :-)

You do need to go to a doctor.  Often women who describe that type of pain have large ovarian cysts, and/or endometriosis.

An undiscovered ectopic pregnancy can sometimes present early like this, before it ruptures.

Please go to a doctor as soon as you can.  Good luck!

Hi Jessica,
I can only tell you what happened to myself when i had anal pressure and pain around the bladder. As with you it happened upon waking.  The pain was horrible!    Well make a long story short i had a MRI done and one of my lumbar disk had ruptured and they also found i had pars defect. I would suggest that you make an appt. with your doctor very soon.
I wish you luck an please let us know how you are doing.

Hi Jessica,

I want to welcome you to the Pain Management Forum and let you know that we are glad that yo have found this Forum.  I want you to understand that there are NO Doctors on thisForum ONLY  CP (Chronic Pain) Patients that help each other through our own expertise and experiences with our own CP Issues.

I'm really sorry that you are experiencing this pain as I can ONLY imagine how UNCOMFORTABLE this is for you!!  How long has this been going on with you?  Have you tried any OTC laxatives to see if that does ANYTHING at all to give you relief?

Assuming that you have ALREADY done that and it is STILL going on then you DEFINITELY need to check with your Doctor and let him send you to whichever Specialist he might deem necessary. It might very well be a Gastroenterologist.  You definitely need to find out WHAT is going on with you. You might ask for a CT Scan of the Abdominal Area and see if there is anything going on with your Bladder.  There is another possibility and that would be a VERY bad Bladder infection in which case either your PCP or a Urologist would be the answer.

Have you EVER had a problem with Endometriosis?  It can cause a significant amount of pain in the area that you are having problems.  When I had that problem the pain was EXCRUCIATING every time I had a bowel movement!!  Even when the stool was passing through the Colon it was TERRIBLY painful. If that's the case then a Gynecologist is the way to go.  Your PCP can guide you in which way you should go.

I wish you the VERY best and HOPE that you will get this checked out VERY quickly!!

PLEASE stay in touch and let us know what you find out!!!........Sherry
