hi, i just wanted to put in that you might want to get tested for mono, i have had persistant pain in my lower jaw (as well as in my neck) just on one side and after about a month of this going on I was tested for mono and the dr said the pain is one of the side effects, not a common one, but still a side effect. the pain is very severe at times, it comes and goes.

look up TMJ or TMD on the web.  You may have to buy a mouth piece almost like what the football players where.  It will keep your jaw in correct allignment and keep you from grinding teeth during sleep.  Do not chew gum or other chewy things, don't open your mouth really wide or eat candy apples or other hard to eat items, don't use straws, learn how to relax your jaw muscles. Ask the doctor for elavil or valium to ease the tension in your jaw.  It may heal itself in a month or 2.  Good luck and see a dentist too.

Have you seen a dentist to rule out a possible abcessed tooth?
