proctalgia fugax

Has anyone with proctalgia fugax found any pain medication that helps?
I have been suffering with this for 20 years.

The best thing that I found that works for me is taking the muscle relaxer Methocarbamol (trade name Robaxin).  I don't have any experience with Levsin or Amitryptaline, but it sounds like the muscle relaxers are the way to go.

I grind it up into power (keep a stone pestle and mortise just for it), drop that into water and down the entire thing (don't taste it).  Doing it in this manner will save you about 20 minutes of pain waiting for the thing to dissolve in your stomach.  I have a prescription which I keep up to date (just like the fire extinguisher in the kitchen - and for the very same reason).  OTC pain killers are fine - but I've found the methocarbamol to work the best.

Best of luck to you!

Are you all aware of the Hep C relation and this condition?

I use Levsin - it goes under my tongue ( I keep it right by my bed), it works in about five minutes and it also makes me slightly tired.  I usually fall asleep before it disolves completely.  I helps allot, but it is still a horrible pain to endure even for a few minutes!  Good luck.
